Our Thoughts 

When thinking about Easter basket ideas for the kids, it's always hard to figure out what to put in their baskets; especially for little girls. The new My Little Pony toys are a great choice for those last minute Easter basket adds. 

My daughter has been able to play with the items of this review for the past week and has loved all of them. She is a kid who loves the little collectables and is crazy over horses so these My Little Pony toys are great for her. 

My Little Pony Rainbow Wings Twilight Sparkle is so much fun. My daughter loves the wings that move and they light up! Being able to comb Twilight Sparkle's hair is fun and her hair is easily able to be braided or twisted in different styles because of the softness. The girls have a great time playing with this toy with her friends and by herself. My daughter, who is five, opened this item herself without help. She was able to take Twilight out by using scissors with supervision but didn't need adult assistance at any time. 

The My Little Pony Mane Classic figure assortment is reminiscent of my own childhood and the My Little Pony figures I played with as a child. My daughter has loved playing with these figures and keeps them in my vehicle so she can have them while we are on the road or other places where she normally gets board very easily. Because they're about 3" tall, they are compact and easy to carry in my purse or in a small carry bag. The packaging was easy to open and was simple enough for a five year old to do it on her own. 

The My Little Pony Cutie Mark Crew Series 4 Blind Bags are fun for kids because they're surprised with the characters they get in the bag. My daughter really loved these and she got some of the characters she wanted and they were fun to open together. The only thing we didn't like about the blind bags were the confetti that came in the packaging with the bag. The confetti, while it was paper and not plastic, it made a mess and was difficult to clean up because it was in small pieces. The packaging itself was easy to open and deal with.

My Thoughts

The My Little Pony Cutie Mark Crew are the newest addition to the My Little Pony Family. There are twenty-four different versions to collect which include ponies, seahorses, and Equestria girls. Each one comes in a cute little case, and you won't know which one you have until you open up the package. Once you look inside, you'll discover which pony was hiding inside. Each Cutie Mark Crew comes with a miniature pony, and a little nest to sit in that matches the personality of the pony. For example, Pinky Pie comes with a teacup and Rainbow Dash comes with sushi. There is a also a little sheet inside with information about that pony's personality, and a checklist so you can keep track of which ones you have.

 These pint-size ponies are a fun collectible that little girls everywhere are sure to love. The miniatures are really detailed, and the characters have a lot of personality. You can store them in the cases when you aren't using them so they don't get lost. My daughter just loved them, and I know I'll be getting a few more when Christmas roles around. They are the perfect size for stocking stuffers. Look for the Cutie Mark Crew in stores near you this fall!

My Little Pony: Equestria Girls Season 1 On YouTube!

Hasbro just debuted their brand new ‘My Little Pony: Equestria Girls’ series on YouTube on November 17^th.  In this series, the Equestria girls and their friends will experience all sorts of adventures including after school clubs, beach days, music festivals, theme parks, and Spring Break on a yacht. The cast of characters includes Sunset Shimmer, Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, and Rarity. Each one will learn what it means to be superheroes while they take on the challenges of high school.

My daughter and I had a chance to preview the first few episodes of the series, and we just loved it. In this series, the classic pony characters have taken on more human attributes, but still possess the same magic as their pony counterparts. The characters are unique and the story-lines are entertaining.  The animation is colorful and well-done, and is certain to hold the attention of kids of all ages. The whole series transports you into a magical new world. It's a great series for younger girls, but with the fun fashion and teenage story-lines, tweens will also enjoy it. Even my seventeen-year-old kept looking up from her homework while we were watching it. My Little Pony was been around for generations, and this series shows that it just keeps getting better.

The best part about Equestria Girls is that it's completely free to watch on You Tube.  Check out the first episode, Sunset Shimmer's Fine Line, here or watch it below. Fans can expect more than 45 new, fun and exciting episodes from the series over the few few months. A new episode will be rolling out each Friday following the premiere.




To celebrate the new series, my kids were sent a fun collection of My Little Pony Swag. Most of these toys are geared toward the newly released film, but they definitely got  my daughter excited for the new series. She snuggled with a few of her favorite as we watched.

There were so many toys, we decided to share the pony love. Yesterday, we stopped by our local recreation center and donated some of these toys to Toys for Tots. My kids were so happy to share these treasures with other children in need. I'm sure they will make the holidays brighter some a special little girl.

Overall, this was a fun My Little Pony filled weekend for my family. We loved the new Equestria Girls series and are excited to see what comes next. We'll definitely be checking back on Friday to see the next episode. We also loved the toys which would make a great gift for fans of the series or the movie. My Little Pony Box

I'm a child of the eighties, so I was around when My Little Pony first came out. It was one of my favorite toys, so I was excited to see them make a come back when I had my own children. My daughter loves her pony collection, and is always willing to add something new to it. The My Little Pony Box is a great way for her to grow her collection. Each month, they send you a few adorable pony-themed products that both kids and adult collectors will love.

The this month's box was packed with magic. There were two high value items inside with a cute pony theme. Here is a little about each one.

The first item in the package is a beautiful lanyard. The strap is rainbow in color, and there is a cute little Pegasus pony charm on the end. There is also a slot where you can store your ID. This a great item for nurses or doctors who work with kids, or just to put you student ID or work badge.

The second item in the box had my daughter flying high. She adores these beautiful purple Pegasus wings. They are a pretty pastel purple, and very soft and fluffy. They attach easily to the arms and are stretchy, so they should fit most sizes.

These are two great items, and well worth the $9.99 purchase price. I've seen similar wings going for over $20 in some department stores. My daughter loved everything too. My Thoughts

 My Little Pony was one of my favorite toys when I was a child, and I'm so happy they are still around so I can share them with my daughter. Of course, back in the 80s I didn't have anything as cool as the  MY LITTLE PONY RARITY BOOKTIQUE Playset.  This thing is so cool because it gives kids all the diversity of a full size doll house in a condensed form. The way that works, is that there are several different backgrounds for the Booktique, and each one looks like a different room. There's a bathroom, a bedroom, a ballroom and more.  The backgrounds are made from cardboard and turn like book pages, but they are very thick cardboard, so they won't rip or break easily.

In addition to the play-set itself, you also get a Rarity pony and lots of accessories. Rarity is a pretty pony with silky, purple hair.  Accessories include but are not limited to a clothes rack, dresser, table, sunglasses, hangers, and so much more.   Each of the pieces are very detailed and well made. They are a little on the small side, so this is definitely for children three and over because it will present a choking hazard.

One of the best parts about the play-set is that all the pieces and the pony can fit inside. When you are done playing, simply back them away and snap it shut. This has kept my daughter from losing the pieces so she can enjoy it again and again. It's also small enough that it doesn't take up much space in her toy chest.  I am very happy with this set. I feel it's well made, lots of fun, and a reasonable price. It's the perfect choice for any pony lover this holiday season.

Summer Fun with Play-Doh

Summer vacation is only  a few weeks away. I take my kids outside as much as possible, but there are bound to be some days where bad weather forces us indoors. To make sure my kids will stay entertained, I always make sure I have a few sets of Play-Doh around. Play-Doh is as much a staple of our summer time as water slides and sea shell huts, and this summer, there are some really fun new additions to the Play-Doh family.

With Avengers just coming out in theaters, the perfect Play-Doh set for little super-heroes is the PLAY-DOH SMASHDOWN HULK FEATURING MARVEL CAN-HEADS Assortment.  

My son had a ball with this set. It comes with three different cans of Play-Doh in green, orange ,and blue. Two of the cans are designed to look like the heads of the Avengers.  All along the Hulk's body, there are different molds. You can create bricks, airplanes, armor upgrades and more. There are also a few more stampers under Iron Man's feet.  You can create walls and traps that hulk can smash his way through. 

Hulk is awesome because when you press down his head, his hands actually crash down to "Hulk Smash" the Play-Doh. You can mash your Play-doh creations and make more over and over again. We had  tons of fun with the Can-heads, but I do wish that Hulk had a real head.  Then we could play with him even when we aren't using the Play-Doh, and we wouldn't have to worry about losing or breaking that particular can. Overall, though, this is still a great toy that fans of the Avengers are going to love.

For my daughter, we got to try out the PLAY-DOH MY LITTLE PONY RAINBOW DASH STYLE SALON Playset.  This set is lots of super-girly fun. It comes complete with six mini cans of Play-Doh, all in different colors.  There's also a set of play scissors (not sharp at all) so you can style your pony's hair.

There are lots of ways to play with this pony, and it kept my daughter entertained for hours. The most exciting part is the hair. There is a little lever on the top of the head that you can lift up and insert some Play-Doh. When you press it down, the Play-Doh comes out like hair. This works really well and never jams. We were able to get some really pretty rainbow hair going on. If it gets too long, you can use the scissors to give it a trim.

In addition to styling the pony's hair, you can also fill out all the different shapes on her body and her wings. It really looked pretty when we were done. The the best part is, you can do it over and over again. The dough did get a little mixed up, but that is easy enough to replace. The pony itself is well made, sturdy, and easy to clean.  My daughter enjoys playing with it even when she's not using the Play-Doh.
