Music Made Me Do It - #Giveaway from Sol Republic #MMMDI

Music touches all of our lives, but perhaps it's touched mine more than most.  Almost every man I've ever been involved with has been a musician, including my husband. I have dozens of stories about how music effected these relationships, but one of my best stories is probably what my friends dubbed "The Great Thong Caper". About ten years ago, before I met my husband the saxophonist, I was dating a local rock star. On our very first date, I jokingly asked if anyone had ever thrown their underwear at him on the stage. He sadly replied that it hadn't happened yet, but was a life long dream of his. A few months later, I decided I had to make it a reality, but I always take things a step above the norm. I got together with the other wives/girlfriends of the band members and told them my plan. They were completely on board. So I ordered a case of thongs off eBay and on St. Patrick's Day, we set the plan in motion.

That night, the other girls and I handed out a pair of panties to every woman in the bar. Young and old, patrons and servers. No one was left out. We asked a select few to go up and request the guys play "American Pie". This was the signal. At the end of the song, we would go into action. It was a plan that worked better than I ever expected. All the women in the bar got really into it. Everyone sang along and cheered for them. At the end of the final verse, the whole band was literally showered in panties! Probably over a hundred pairs! They thought it was great and everyone had a good time. To this day, I still smile when I hear American Pie. I love this story so much, it actually inspired one of my upcoming novels, In Perfect Harmony, Book 2 in my Jersey Girl series, coming May 2015. Book one, Falling Star, is available now, and music plays a big role in this story too.

Not only music but a few drinks to go along with it has made me do some lap dances for the ladies at my work when we partied after hours. I stayed dressed, just sat them in a chair and danced for them. Now they tease me and ask for lap dances whenever we go out together. #MMMDI

My daughters got involved in anime and manga a while back and managed to pull me into the Japanese culture with them. We started going to anime conventions, but one thing I really fell in love with is j-pop/rock. Living in the US we had to pay premium prices for music CD's of the Japanese bands we like. A few years ago, I discovered that my favorite J-pop band, M.O.V.E would be appearing at a convention in Virginia. We drove the nearly 800 miles and attended the convention, just to be able to see the band. They were amazing! We were lucky enough to see them again at a convention in Chicago, which is close to where we live. I just love their music and of course we played it all the way to and from Virginia when we first went to see them.

ABBA's songs got me through a very tough time in my life. My fiancé spent 4 weeks in the hospital before he passed away. Every morning on the way to the hospital and every evening on the way home, my ABBA Gold cassette played on my car radio. I sang as loud as I could, sometimes interrupted by laughter of memories of good times, sometimes resulting in a total breakdown of tears and despair. Through it all, the music coming from my car radio kept playing and kept me going so I could help him through his final days. Every single one of the songs on that cassette means so much to me to this day...#MMMDI

I have been living with depression and panic attacks for 30 years and music lifts my spirits and has a calming effect on me. Sometimes I think listening to music is a better antidepressant than the medications I take! Who hasn't experienced a complete mood change when listening to their favorite music? And I can usually find just the right song that will help me cope with difficult situations. I can't imagine life without music! #MMMDI

Music made me spend every summer and spring break on the road. I followed the Grateful Dead for a few years, and ekoostik Hookah after that. I sold jewelry to afford it, and lived on scraps and spare change, and so did my friends. We all pitched in together. Best days of my life, and I met people I am still friends with today! #MMMDI

When I was a young teenager I had a major self esteem problem! I didn't really talk to anyone or do any clubs. My Mom took me to a concert (Ozzy Osbourne of all people!) and I began feeling things with music. I actually got myself to try out for track and made it. Long story short, music has always inspired me to do better for myself!

Well, I'm sorry I have to do this again....forgot the hashtag! So long story short, music inspires me to be a better person! I listen to it when I walk, when I'm sad, happy...etc. We all do! We listen to music when we celebrate. I love the "lift" it gives me! #MMMDI

When I was training for a marathon I found it harder and harder to run longer and longer. A friend of mine suggested that I listen to music to make the time go by so I bought a little radio and tried it out and it worked okay. Getting bored by the music on the radio I bought a little mp3 player to put my own music on it and listen to it. From that moment my favorite songs helped me finish my training and got me through the marathon!! I love music! #MMMDI

#MMMDI Music made me take hold of myself during a hard point in my life. There was a lot going on, a lot of chaos, and I was able to tune it out with sound. Music returned me to a centered position. Through melodies and poignant lyrics, it restored me. Music made me whole again.

I went to a different state and went out for a night on the town. I ended up at a club where some people were dancing but it was kind of drab. I usust dance with my pets but I wanted to have a good time. The music was descent and I didn;t want to ruin the night so I started dancing like I've never danced before. Everyone started getting into it and by the end (since I was out of breath) everyone was smiling and cheering for me. Then other started dancing and I saw smiles the rest of the night. It was a crazy night but the #MMMDI.

Music made me swallow my pride and get up on the stage to sing with my daughter. She LOVES to sing, and she's very good at it. I love music, but good gravy, I can't sing. It meant a lot to her though, and she means a lot to me, so on the stage I went. The song I selected was a good one that would showcase her voice, and make mine minimal. The Music Made Me Do It. #MMMDI

Music definitely made me more outgoing. One of the best times was when I went to China to visit my sister. Karaoke is very popular in China and she took me to one of the karaoke clubs. I never would have considered singing, but she found songs that she knew I LOVED and I couldn't resist! Sure, it might have been out of my comfort zone, but I'll never forget it! Luckily, no one recorded it - so I'm safe there! #MMMDI

Music has always been a big part of my life. That is how my parents met-my Dad and my Grandpa were in a band together. Weekends were spent with my relatives and everyone brought their instruments and played and sang. I am 60 and still have my Dad and he still plays guitar and sings with his brothers and I love listening. My brothers both do dj and karaoke jobs and we all sing-some better than others.
