The Aftermath starring Keira Knightley, Jason Clarke & Alexander Skarsgard

Set in 1946, this engrossing drama follows Rachael Morgan (Keira Knightley), a British woman whose colonel husband (Jason Clarke) is charged with rebuilding war-ravaged Hamburg. When she joins him there during the bitter winter months, she learns they willbe sharing their home with a German widower (Alexander SkarsgÄrd) and his troubled daughter. Before long, the unusual arrangement intensifies political divides and stirs deep personal wounds. In this increasingly charged environment, enmity and grief giveway to unexpected passion and betrayal.

My Thoughts

This is a really great film centering around a woman named Rachel who is helping with recover effort shortly after World War II.  Her husband is a colonel and she meets up with him to help rebuild. With limited space, they wind up sharing a home with a German man and his daughter who is damaged from the rigors of war. Rachel soon finds herself drawn to both men.

This is a great movie that brings up a forbidden love story, but also delves in the psychological affects many people suffered at the end of the war. Emotions run high throughout the film. It's a historically accurate film with stunning costumes and backdrops as well as a phenomenal  cast. This is the type of film which is sure to be a classic people will watch over and over again. Get Phantom by Laura DeLuca #Free on Amazon

Phantom, Dark Musicals Book 1 is currently FREE on Amazon for a limited time. See how Rebecca and Justyn's story began, and catch up on the whole series before the new book hits virtual shelves.

The "Phantom" was a musical phenomenon that Rebecca had always found enchanting. She had no idea that her life was about to mirror the play that was her obsession. When her high school drama club chooses "Phantom" as their annual production, Rebecca finds herself in the middle of an unlikely love triangle and the target of a sadistic stalker who uses the lines from the play as their calling card. Rebecca lands the lead role of Christine, the opera diva, and like her character, she is torn between her two co-stars-Tom the surfer and basketball star who plays the lovable hero, and Justyn, the strangely appealing Goth who is more than realistic in the role of the tortured artist. Almost immediately after casting, strange things start to happen both on and off the stage. Curtains fall. Mirrors are shattered. People are hurt in true phantom style. They all seem like accidents until Rebecca receives notes and phone calls that hint at something more sinister. Is Justyn bringing to life the twisted character of the phantom? Or in real life are the roles of the hero and the villain reversed? Rebecca doesn't know who to trust, but she knows she's running out of time as she gets closer and closer to opening night. Only when the mask is stripped away, will the twenty-first century phantom finally be revealed.

Make sure to check out the whole series, especially the newest addition to the stage:

Rebecca Hope-Patko and her husband, Lord Justyn, are living their dream. After a successful stint on Broadway, the super couple are heading down under for a special showing of Phantom Returns, where their son Erik will join them for his professional debut.

As soon as their plane touches down, they discover that a serial killer is stalking Melbourne. At the theater, a strange series of accidents leaves Rebecca fearing for the safety of her family. Rebecca struggles to unravel the mystery while coping with insecurities about her career which cause tension between her and Justyn.

It’s clear a very real Phantom is lurking among them, but Rebecca is no kid anymore. She’s tired of the villain getting the upper hand. This time, Rebecca is setting the trap. This opera diva will put her life and her marriage on the line to shatter the illusions surrounding Queen’s Theater, and stop the serial killer before they can strike again.

LITTLE - Starring Marsai Martin, Regina Hall & Issa Rae - On Digital 6/25 and Blu-ray 7/9

The big boss gets a small dose of karma in LITTLE, an inventive new twist on the “body swap” comedy. The film arrives on Digital and the all-new digital movie app MOVIES ANYWHERE on June 25, 2019 and on Blu-Ray™, DVD, and On Demand July 9, 2019 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Hailed by critics as “big fun” (Shawn Edwards, FOX-TV), LITTLE shines a bright light on the incredible talent of the three female leads and shows the true meaning of Black Girl Magic. This light-hearted, comedic and heartwarming film on Blu-ray TM, DVD and Digital comes packed with lively exclusive bonus features including a gag reel, behind-the-scenes featurettes, a hilarious “mockumentary” featuring Regina Hall and a special “Assistant Survival Guide” presented by Issa Rae.

LITTLE is an irreverent new comedy about the price of success, the power of sisterhood and having a second chance to grow up — and glow up — right. Regina Hall ( Girls Trip, “Black Monday”) and Marsai Martin ( Black-ish) both star as Jordan Sanders — Hall as the take-no-prisoners tech mogul adult version of Jordan and Martin as the 13-year-old version of her who wakes up in her adult self’s penthouse just before a do-or-die presentation. Issa Rae (“Insecure,” The Hate You Give) plays Jordan’s long-suffering assistant April. Using heart and humor, LITTLE teaches us to not shy away but to celebrate the greatest and most authentic versions of ourselves.

Filled with laugh-out-loud moments from beginning to end and amusing bonus content, LITTLE makes the perfect movie for a Girls Night In! The film is based on an idea by Marsai Martin, who also serves as an executive producer, alongside Regina Hall, Preston Holmes ( Girls TripNight School), and Josh Martin. Little is directed by Tina Gordon ( What Men WantDrumline), produced by Will Packer ( Girls Trip, Night School), and also stars Justin Hartley (“This Is Us”, A Bad Moms Christmas).

My Thoughts

Little is a really cute movie about a mean tech executive who gets body swapped. After yelling at most of her employees and a little girl, the child uses a magic wand to turn Jordan into a little girl to remind of where she came from. With a big meeting coming up, she has to get back into her real body. With the help of her often abused assistant, April, Jordan learns some valuable lessons about life and what is really important.

I've always  been a fan of body swap movies every since I saw the original Freaky Friday. I like the twist of the her going back to her  younger self instead of switching bodies with a parent. It's along the lines of the classic Tom Hanks movie, Big, only in reverse and with a phenomenal female cast.  The film is filled with hilarious moments, but also offers a strong dash of girl power. It's a wonderful  movie for daughters and moms to watch together. The Blu-ray edition also includes some great bonus footage including a gag real and a look behind the scenes.

Magic & Wonder Collide, as Enchanting Books Teach Children British Etiquette

As an International Etiquette Trainer, Taryn Jahme has taught British etiquette to clients from all walks of life. However, children have a special place in her heart – not only for the unique challenges they present, but the creative and uplifting ways in which Taryn can impart her wisdom.

The ‘Henry and Kathleen’ series of children’s books is one of Taryn’s proudest resources – a series of storybooks that teach children British etiquette while engrossing them in a world where literally anything can happen!

Synopses:

‘A Magical London Adventure’ - Siblings Henry and Kathleen are lively and imaginative, but also a little mischievous. The Magical London Adventure by Taryn Jahme tells the tale of how, following a spot of trouble due to poor table manners, the children write a story of apology. This story within a story tells of an exciting magical adventure in which Jasper, a friendly dragon, explores London. The story culminates with a grand feast at Buckingham Palace where the children succeed in demonstrating their refined manners.

‘High Tea Through the Tunnels of London’ - Henry and Kathleen are invited by their Aunty Kerry and Granny Fay to sample High Tea at the Ritz Hotel. While there, they get trapped in a lift—from which they are rescued by Detective Fox, one of the animals the children watch play at the bottom of their garden. Detective Fox enlists the help of his friends Lady Badger, Sir Rabbit, Mrs Mole and Mr Hedgehog to whisk Henry and Kathleen on an adventure through the tunnels deep below London.

‘Little London Pirates’ - Henry and Kathleen enjoy playing in one of London’s most prestigious play-grounds at Kensington Garden’s. Magic turns the playground’s fabulous and famous pirate ship in to a real ship, setting sail upon the River Thames on a great and exciting adventure! Embarking upon a twisting and epic journey, encountering Pirates and mermaids and sea monsters., Henry and Kathleen are in for a wild time. Famous ships which are ‘dotted’ around London join the battle on the River Thames to save the children from the pirates. Will the children manage to get away?

‘Royal Air Force Day’ - Henry and Kathleen are extremely excited to go and see the ‘Red Arrows’ flying at ‘Royal Air Force Day’. Dad is flying a red arrow which has the Queen of England watching in awe. Whilst Dad is flying, Henry and Kathleen are on an epic and thrilling journey in a world famous ‘London black taxi’ which magically grows wings! Flying through the skies, Henry and Kathleen are in a race with the Red Arrows! With the crowds cheering excitedly, amazed that a London black taxi is flying through the air at such ‘high speed’, will Dad realise who it is?

‘The Raven Tea Party at the Tower of London’ - Henry and Kathleen are having a fun picnic in beautiful Richmond Park. They adventure further away from their picnic spot arriving at a ginormous old oak tree. Little do Henry and Kathleen realise that the animals that live in the branches are truly magical creatures. After meeting the magical animals for tea, the children fly on the backs of the ‘Great Wise Owls’, soaring high towards the Tower of London. A truly marvellous party hosted by the Tower’s world famous ravens takes place with all the Tower of London’s historical animals, dancing and singing. With only a limited amount of time to get back to their picnic spot, Henry and Kathleen are against time to find hidden clues throughout the Tower of London’s narrow passages, dodging laser beams, hidden tiny rooms and with many twists and turns. Henry and Kathleen’s aim is to find the Crown Jewels before it’s too late! Getting chased out of the Tower by the Queen’s medieval metal armoured Guards and setting off alarm bells, Henry and Kathleen finally get saved!

“I wanted to create a fun-based learning experience that would embed important etiquette lessons in stories that young children actually want to read,” explains the author. “Each story puts the fun and adventure first, and then intelligently weaves wisdom around the experiences, characters and challenges that the child, Henry and Kathleen encounter.”

Continuing, “Social skills are of course the bedrock of anyone’s success in life, and etiquette is one piece of the puzzle that is often missing when we bring up children either personally or professionally. These books plug that gap in a way that will have youngsters curious to continue the enchantment!”

The entire ‘Henry and Kathleen’ series is available now, from the author’s official website.

Storm Boy Review & #Giveaway

A beautiful and contemporary retelling of Colin Thiele's classic Australian tale. 'Storm Boy' has grown up to be Michael Kingley, a successful retired businessman and grandfather. When Kingleystarts to see images from his past that he can't explain, he is forced to remember his long-forgotten childhood, growing up on an isolated coastline with his father. He recounts to his grand-daughter the story of how, as a boy, he rescued and raised an extraordinary orphaned pelican, Mr Percival. Their remarkable adventures and very special bond has a profound effect on all their lives. Based on the beloved book, Storm Boy is a timeless story of an unusual and unconditional friendship.

My Thoughts

Storm Boy is the tale of a little boy who lives on a small island in Australia where there aren't many  other people. He discovers a small flock of abandoned pelicans who help ease his loneliness. After caring for them for months, he gets very attached and doesn't want to let them go. His fisherman father doesn't understand why he cares so much about the birds which leads to conflicts  between the two of them.

As someone who lives my the ocean myself, I really related to this firm. Seeing a child care for the pelicans and raise them was really beautiful. The film really displays the magic of nature and shows us how animals, including birds, understand more than we think. The conflict between him and his father adds another layer of emotion, and the resolution leads to a touching finale. This is a wonderful film to watch with your family, especially since it is Dove approved. It has an interesting story line and a real moral that helps children understand the beauty of nature and all that is at stake as we continue to destroy our oceans.

The Gentle Cleanser for Your Sunburned Skin

Most of us have been there – when you forget or miss a spot with SPF, resulting in a sunburn. Now what?

Avoid harsh cleansing products and implements, like a loofah, when experiencing a sunburn. A cleanser like Dove Beauty Bar is gentle to skin and can be used without an implement. Formulated with ¼ moisturizing cream, Dove Beauty Bar gently but effectively cleanses and cares for skin, leaving it soft, smooth and radiant.

My Thoughts

Dove has been one of my favorite skincare products for as long as I can remember. What makes me love this brand is that their products that really work with my sensitive skin.  With Dove, I know I'm always doing the right thing for by body. I tried out several of the Dove Beauty Bars including:

Dove Pink/Rosa
Gentle Exfoliating
Shea Butter
Cool Moisture
Relaxing Lavender

Each one of these bar has it's own purchase,  but they are all fantastic. When I started using Dove, I noticed a difference after just one shower.  The bars lathers nicely and leaves your skin feeling deep-down clean, but it also leaves your skin so soft it feels like flower petals. You can't ask for better results. They also have a light scent that isn't overpowering.  I'd highly recommend this Dove line to anyone looking for something to help with dry skin. Plus, it's always a great price. You won't have to break the bank with Dove. It's the perfect way to keep your skin healthy and radiant all summer long.
