Curious Creamery Review - Homemade Ice Cream requires no machine!

One of my favorite things about summer is cooling off with ice cream. I have an ice cream maker attachment for my stand mixer but have only made homemade ice cream twice, it still takes a lot of work to make the mix. Imagine my happiness with finding The Curious Creamery. Their ice cream mixes make it a breeze to have premium ice cream made fresh at home.

The Curious Creamery Ice Cream Mix requires no ice cream machine. That's right. It can be made with a hand mixer, then popped in the freezer. The mix sample I received for this review is the Unflavored Original Ice Cream Mix. It is a packet that is added to 1/2 cup of milk or other liquid. It takes a high speed hand mixer with a whisk attachment to get the proper consistency. Per the package I began whisking at high speed for up to 7 minutes. The instructions state the volume of the mix should double in size. I did not see that effect happening but I did notice a much creamier texture appearing. Since this was unflavored, I added my own flavor combination after the whisking process was complete. I chose coconut flavoring with diced mango for a tropical treat.

Now that I had it all mixed, the bowl goes in the freezer for 2 to 6 hours. I had a shallow bowl so mine was ready in about 3 hours.

The taste - super creamy! Wow is this ever smooth! It has a velvety texture with a delicious sweetness. The coconut mango combination worked perfectly together. A single packet makes about 1 pint of ice cream. No picture of the finished product, it was devoured too fast before I could snap the photo. It came out looking creamy, smooth white with little orange mango chunks. It could have come from a gourmet ice cream shop!

The Curious Creamery product line includes the Ice Cream mix as well as an Ice Cream Cake mix and for adults only, an Alcoholic Ice Cream mix. Look for these mixes at select markets and available online. Buy a few packets, once you make one and see how easy it is, you will want to make more.

I plan on purchasing more packets. It is the easiest way to make ice cream ever! The taste does not disappoint. I can't wait to try the other pre made flavors of chocolate and strawberry. I do like the unflavored for making creative ice cream flavors. I am already planning my next Curious Creamery Ice Cream treat!

Delicious "Cure" for the Holiday Blues Anyone Can Enjoy

A sweet treat can be the perfect "cure" for the holiday  blues and one great after-school or classroom-party snack is DFMAVENS, a gluten- and dairy-free ice cream any kid can enjoy.
With more kids following dairy free and gluten free diets, DF MAVENS is a great option for parents to consider when planning classroom-parties, or even just to have handy as a better-for-you sweet snack.

DF MAVENS, a FAL FOODS USA brand, combines the finest and healthiest ingredients from around the world and is available in three main bases - Soy, Coconut and Almond. All flavors are dairy-free, gluten-free, do not contain preservatives or cholesterol and are Kosher.  DF MAVENS is currently available in Whole Foods, all natural markets and online at www.dfmavens.com.

My Thoughts

I was so excited to get to try this ice cream from DF Mavens! I got to try out a variety of different flavors and they were all amazing. What a great product for those that are lactose intolerant. You wouldn't even know they were made without milk products! Instead, they use soy, coconut or almond and those ingredients blend well with the flavors we tried. Chocolate ice cream made with almond milk? How can you go wrong with that? Or Mango made with coconut? It's a tropical combination made in heaven! Salted Praline made with soy? My mouth is watering again just remembering how good it was.

I only got to try a few, but not a single flavor was bad! They were all super creamy and rich! Each of the flavors were different and a rush of taste to your mouth. Best of all, there are more than twenty different varieties at DF Mavens to choose from, so there is sure to be something for everyone! I give this ice cream 5 out of 5 stars for sure! I am looking forward to buying more, now that I know where to find them close by! These unique treats are sure to get us over the holiday hump.

Review: Sonic Adds New Master Blast To Menu

Sonic is America's favorite drive-in, and my favorite place to get ice cream! When I learned about their new "Master Blast" I was all over it! So many times you get stuck in the same rut of eating the same thing. I wanted to try something different!

I tried two of the six new additions to the menu, and quickly decided which of those two was my favorite. The new flavors are: Cookie Dough, Triple Chocolate, Turtle Pecan, Pineapple Upside Down, Banana Split, and Caramel Brownie. Being a chocolate lover I got Triple Chocolate, and I love a good salty and sweet treat, so I got Turtle Pecan as well.

The Triple Chocolate, is awesome! Chunks of brownies, and chocolate chips in your chocolate syrup smothered ice cream. It's a chocolate overload, no doubt. Anyone who loves chocolate is sure to enjoy this! I love that there is a perfect mix of brownies and chocolate chips.

My favorite by far, though, was the Turtle Pecan. Vanilla ice cream with salted caramel, chocolate chips and pecans. Heaven in my mouth. It is the perfect mix of sweet and salty, without being over done.

Sonic has always been top notch with their desserts, and their food in general. I am happy to tell the reader how wonderful the new Master Blast additions are! You are sure to enjoy them, as I did. This summer will be cool, thanks to these tasty ice cream treats!

NadaMoo Ice Cream Review

Temperatures are rising and ice cream season is upon us again. Wait, it's always ice cream season! How about a pint of Vanilla NadaMoo to welcome inthe smell of Spring flowers?

When people try our coconut milk ice cream for the first time, they ask us, "How do you make NadaMoo! so creamy, smooth, rich and delicious - so much like ice cream - without dairy, eggs or sugar?"

Our answer is simple: We start with coconut milk, add a little tapioca and agave nectar, and then let our imaginations go wild.

Well, actually, there's a little more to our story than that. Dig in to find out why we often hear that NadaMoo! is the best non-dairy ice cream taste buds have ever known.

Our Thoughts:

I was so excited to get this ice cream! I wasn't expecting to receive their whole line, but happy about that nonetheless. What a great product for those that are lactose intolerant. You wouldn't even know they were made without milk products!

Not a single flavor was bad! They were all super creamy, and rich! Each of the flavors were different and a rush of taste to your mouth. I'm afraid we'll eat them too fast and won't have any left!

I give this ice cream a 5 out of 5 stars for sure! I am looking forward to buying more, now that I know where to find them close by!
