Affordable Gifts for Everyone-2023 Calendars from Workman Publishing

This holiday season, there's one gift that's perfect for absolutely anyone on your list. Whether they hang it on a wall on place it on their desk, everyone needs a calendar. Workman Publishing has so many options, you can definitely find something for everyone on your list. These are a few calendars I picked out for the people closest to me who have a wide range of personalities.

Your Rainbow Baby

I have a child who recently came out as gay, and I always try to find ways to show my support. This Pride calendar is an awesome collection of LGBTQIA+ history and will help my child see how special they are.

Your Mom

My mother has Victorian home and lives in a Victorian town. She's a fan of anything historical and this calendar helps her step back in time with the whimsical images and the Victoriana Calendar fits that bill.

Your Brother

My younger brother is a huge fantasy fan and who lives off The Lord of the Rings and still plays D & D. This Fantasy Calendar is perfect for him, especially since the girls are...ummm..scantily dressed.

Your Grandmother

My grandmother sleeps with a bible beside her bed, but she doesn't often open it these days since the print is so small. These beautiful Bible Verse calendars offer a bible verse a day in bold print.

Your Co-Worker

One of my co-workers is a dog person. Her dogs are her children and she collects donations for the local animal shelter. Nothing puts a smile on her face like a cute puppy and with this 365 Dogs calendar, she gets to see a new one every day.

Your Best Friend

This may not be perfect for everyone's best friend, but one of my besties is a huge fan of Sloths and even planned a cruise centered around a visit to an island where she gets to hold them. The Sloth calendar comes in both regular and mini sizes!

Workman Publishing has so many options, you can definitely find something for everyone on your list. These are a few calendars I picked out for the people closest to me who have a wide range of personalities.

Your Artistic Daughter

My daughter is eleven and is testing out her artistic wings. She paints and sketches, but she wanted to try something new. This origami calendar gives her a fun way to try a new art project each day.

Your Hippie Aunt

Any new age girl will love this 5-Minute Daily Meditations calendar. It gives you a little guidance to help you start the day off on the right foot.

Your Best Friend

This may not be perfect for everyone's best friend, but most of the people I spend time with are into crystals and tarot cards. They practice the art of Zen and welcome a daily reminder on how to stay focused.

Your Grandmother

My grandmother sleeps with a bible beside her bed, but she doesn't often open it these days since the print is so small. These beautiful calendars offer a bible verse a day in bold print.

Yourself

There's nothing wrong with getting a little something for yourself. For me, the the beach is my happy place. I live at the shore but with this calendar, I get to enjoy an ocean view even when I'm in the house.

Holiday Gift Guide - The Many Lives Boo

I am an artist that got laid off from Walt Disney Imagineering right before the Covid lockdown.  I started painting images of my cat while sheltering in place, and haven’t stopped.  A few years ago, I misread an email message regarding Boo’s test results, believing that he would only be alive for two more years.  This resulted in my decision to make his “last year” memorable by painting pictures of him.

I recalled an incident from five years ago, when I had a friend cat sit him while I visited my family back east.  She never saw him the entire time I was away.  As he was an older cat with multiple health issues, I feared that he had wandered off to cross the rainbow bridge.  The idea of not knowing what happened to him was very unsettling.  A couple of days after returning from my trip, I posted flyers with his picture.  That very night, he came home.  I was so happy to snuggle with him, knowing he was alive and well!

The following day, I received a phone call from a neighbor.  She saw the flyer and said that Boo has been coming to her house for lunch every day for the past twelve years!  He had been staying with her the entire time I was away, and even slept in her bed.  It felt odd, at first: it was as if I had discovered his secret life with another woman.  She then added that he also visited her neighbor, who usually fed him dinner along with the other cats she cares for.

The very next day, a young girl called me to say the Boo was her sister’s best friend - and that her sister was a special needs child.  I was so moved by that call, and impressed with his ability to become friends with the neighbors that I hardly knew.  I no longer felt odd.  He is a very social kitty, with a lot of love to give.  It seemed selfish of me to deprive him of their love, or them of his. It made me wonder as to how many others he can charm, and how many other lives he has lived.

My budget is limited as to what I can afford to donate to charitable causes.  However, I can donate my time and creativity.  I created this calendar as a way for Boo to continue to enhance the lives of others and to help other cats in need.  A portion of the profits from the sales of this calendar will go to Cat Rescue organizations.  I hope that it will make people smile every day - as it does for me.

Holiday Gift Guide – Ultimate Book Lover’s Gifts

Books make for excellent gifts! There is always a new or favorite subject to read about. This holiday consider giving books or calendars for your gift giving.

Two titles I recently had the pleasure of reviewing are:

A Year of True Crime 2019 Calendar

The calendar is a page-a-day! Each day there is a new crime related story, quiz or crime related historical fact with pictures on many pages. As a devotee to the ID Channel and all the crime shows, this calendar is intriguing to me.

Inside there are twisted killers, survivor stories and many unsolved mysteries. This calendar fills that dark interest in crime daily. It may not be for everyone but with the popularity of the crime shows, there are more and more armchair detectives nowadays.

The calendar sits on a plastic stand and is small enough to sit on a desk.

How to Instant Pot by Daniel Shumski

I have been using and loving my Instant pot for a few years now. I thought I was an expert, but this book showed me functions and recipes I never knew I could make in my Instant Pot. This year will be another banner year for Instant Pot gift giving. If you are giving one to someone, consider getting this book to go with it! It is a learning process on how to properly use the Instant Pot.

Chapter 1 details the basics of using the Instant Pot with everything from the functions, menus and understanding the display. Chapter 2 explains pressure cooking. The following chapters include Slow Cooker, Rice Maker, Yogurt Maker and Steamer functions with recipes for each!

There are more than 100 delicious recipes for soups, stews, side dishes, main dishes, and many more! The recipes are very delectable and unique.

Pair this book with your gift of an Instant Pot or gift to someone who may already have an Instant Pot.

Look for the calendar and the book at your favorite book seller or online book retailer.

Happy Holidays!
