BLOOD (Acorn TV Original) (DVD/Blu-ray Debut)
“Dark, addictive and unmissable crime drama” -The Guardian
“You’d be mad to miss it” -Daily Mail
BAFTA nominee Adrian Dunbar (Line of Duty) is “chilling” (Irish Examiner) in this “gripping…intense psychological drama” (Irish Mirror) about the lies that can fracture a family. Loner Cat Hogan (Carolina Main, Unforgotten) returns to her hometown following the sudden death of her mother. But when details about the accident don’t add up, Cat suspects her father (Dunbar), a well-respected doctor she has distrusted ever since a childhood trauma. Did he have a hand in her mother’s passing, or is Cat really the troublemaker her siblings perceive her to be? As she sets out to find the truth, Cat uncovers secrets long buried and risks destroying what’s left of her family ties. (DVD/Blu-ray 2-Disc set, 6 eps, $39.99) Premiered on Acorn TV.
My Thoughts
Blood is a Irish psychological drama centering around Cat Hogan. When her mother is murdered, she returns to her small hometown only to find that everything seems suspicious. She suspects her father and it rekindles many of her childhood. This season includes six episodes:
Coming Home - Cat returns home when her mother is killed. She tells her siblings she suspects their father.
Secrets and Lies - Cat shares her suspicions with Garda and Jim gives his girlfriend a promise ring.
The Funeral - Everyone is stressed at the funeral and things get even worse when creepy Frank shows up.
Memories - Jim demands she stop investigating but also tries to keep her away from Frank.
Last Chance - Cat is dealing with a new tragedy and Dez forces her to make a hard choice.
The Truth - The truth about her mother's death and there are many consequences.
This is an awesome series filled with intrigue and family secrets. This set also includes some great behind-the-scenes footage. I can't wait to see what happens next season. You can crab the first series on DVD or Blu-ray at Acorn Media. You can it online at Amazon.
