Synopsis: The story deepens in the music-driven sequel to the global smash hit "Descendants," as the teenage sons and daughters of Disney's most infamous villains -- Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay (also known as Villain Kids or VKs) -- try to find their place in idyllic Auradon.

When the pressure to be royally perfect becomes too much for Mal, she returns to her rotten roots on the Isle of the Lost where her archenemy Uma, the daughter of Ursula, has taken her spot as self-proclaimed queen of the run-down town.  Uma, still resentful over not being selected by Ben to go to Auradon Prep with the other Villain Kids, stirs her pirate gang including Captain Hook's son Harry and Gaston's son Gil, to break the barrier between the Isle of the Lost and Auradon, and unleash all the villains imprisoned on the Isle, once and for all.

My Thoughts

In this film, the children of Disney's most infamous villains come back for an encore.  In this show, Mal is a little overwhelmed by the pressures on her new life. She feels like she'll never be good enough, so she runs back home to the Isle of the Lost.  Evie and the others go after her, but when they sneak onto the island, they discover it's even more chaotic than they remembered. Uma, the daughter of Ursula has taken over, along with a crew of pirates. They aren't satisfied with simply taking control of the island. They have their sights set on Auradon as well. Mal, Evie, and the crew have to stop her before it's too late.

Descendants 2 is a great continuation of the original movie. It's filled with fun songs and great characters. It is a little on the corny side, but in a good way. I also loved all the little shout outs to other great films. The addition of China Anne McClain at Uma was great. My family all loved her in Ant Farm. I enjoyed this movie just as much as my children. It's destined to become a classic just like the cartoons that inspired it.
