My Thoughts

I have always considered myself a tree-hugger. I love being out in nature, and there is nothing more relaxing that meditating with your back against an ancient tree. TreeGirl is the ultimate book for treehuggers and lovers of nature. The photography in this book is absolutely stunning. Each image brings you a majestic tree, and hidden somewhere within it's branches is a beautiful woman. In some they are clinging to the branches. In some they are wrapped in a gaping whole, as though in the very womb of mother earth herself. You'll see the trees in all different seasons, in all sizes and shapes, from all over the world.

The photography is the crowning glory of this book, but there is still more to love. Within the pages, you'll learn about all the different types of trees. There are even maps showing where they can be found. One of my favorite chapters was the one that discussed nature gods and goddesses like the Green Man. If you need a new book for your coffee table, this one is definitely going to get some attention. Lovers of nature everywhere need to have this in their collection. You'll enjoy paging through this book for years to come.

Odd Squad: The Movie

When a rival agency called Weird Team arrives with a gadget that fixes any odd problem, Odd Squad doesn t have any cases to solve and goes out of business forcing the agents to go back to their lives as regular kids! After using math and teamwork to uncover that Weird Team's gadget isn't actually fixing problems, Olympia and Otis join forces with Olive and Otto to stop Weird Team and save the world from destruction!

My Thoughts

The Odd Squad is a cute series about a team of junior detectives who love to solve off the wall cases.  Along the way, they sing songs, dance, and help kids develop their math skills. Now they've come out with their very own full length  movie. Join the squad as they meet a rival team called the Weird Team. There rivals have a special machine that solves all the problems, leaving the Odd Squad with nothing to do.  Them they learn. it's really all a hoax. Can the squad prove it and get back on top of their game?

This is a really fun film. Just like the series, it always teaches some interesting facts..  Overall, my children really enjoyed the movie. It can be a little corny at times, but it's definitely a fun and educational program for younger children.

THE RED SKELTON HOUR IN COLOR

Red Skelton was a brilliant performer, a passionate patriot, and a master of simple, hilarious and classic comedy.  Now, home audiences can be entertained by America's Clown Prince any time with brilliant full-color episodes of The Red Skelton Hour, some of which have been unseen for over 50 years!  After purchasing an old movie studio and converting it for TV productions, Red was the first CBS host to begin taping his weekly programs in color.  And now, on January 3, Time Life brings viewers back to a simpler time with THE RED SKELTON HOUR IN COLOR, showcasing never-before-released shows as they were originally broadcast more than 50 years ago.

My Thoughts

There is nothing better than the classics. When I was a little girl, I used to sit and watch Red Skeleton with my grandparents for hours. Even then it was just re-runs and I didn't always understand everything that was happening, but it still made  me laugh. Getting to watch a selection of the best sketches on one DVD brings me back to those carefree days, and reminds me of my grandparents and the great times we shared. What makes this set even more exciting, is that it's actually in color. This adds a whole new dimension to this classic.

This set includes three DVDs. There are so many guest stars that I haven't even thought of in years including John Wayne, Mickey Rooney, and Phyllis Diller. There are even a few never-before-seen episodes.  It's slapstick humor at it's best, and a show I'll never get tired of watching. Every fan of this series needs to have this DVD in their collection.

Prince’s passing tops DISH’s five most-watched days of 2016

2016 was an exciting year, but also one filled with sadness. We elected a new president, an we  lost many great artists. DISH was there with us through it all, and now they are bringing us a list of the five most watched events of the year. Check them out below:

#1: Purple Pain

The passing of music legend Prince on April 22 marked the most-watched day of the year. Nearly three times the daily average of DISH households tuned in as images of all-night dance parties and tributes overtook the news cycle and America mourned the loss of a great icon.

#2: The Great Debate

Unsurprisingly, the presidential election dominated the list of DISH’s most-watched days, snagging three of the five top slots. Days that featured the first (September 26) and final (October 19) presidential debates were #2 and #4 on the list, and the vice presidential face-off on October 4 came in at #5.

#3: Broncos Put a Ring on It

Coming in at #3 was Peyton Manning winning his final game in the Super Bowl. A perennial ratings powerhouse, the Super Bowl brings friends and family together to watch the ads as much as the game.

New Year, Old Favorite

And as we prepare to ring in the new year, you might be surprised by how DISH customers welcomed 2016 – The Twilight Zone. Viewership of this classic series soared on January 1, eclipsing the popular pastime of kicking back with college football bowls.

My Thoughts
Since its premiere, Power Rangers Dino Charge has delivered more action and adventure than any series that came before it. It has an amazing story line and an epic new team of Rangers who battle the evil Sledge in a prehistoric world. This DVD set includes ten amazing episodes. The shows include:

Now they have all their favorite episodes available anytime they want.  They never get tired of watching this fantastic show.

SUPER WHY!: PUPPY POWER!

 PBS Distribution announced today it is releasing a new SUPER WHY! DVD called “PUPPY POWER!” This fun-filled DVD includes four puppy-packed adventures. Join Woofster and the Super Readers for exciting adventures where they save other troubled pets, explore a comic book that Whyatt created called “The Missing Princess of Pet City,” and learn to concentrate by overcoming distractions! This collection of stories features tons of new furry friends and will inspire kids to go on reading adventures.

The Super Readers jump into Whyatt’s comic book about Woofster and the Pet Pack and their search for the missing Princess of Pet City. Together the Super Readers and the Pet Pack use their super powers and learn to work together as a team.

SUPER WHY! helps kids learn the fundamentals of reading through interactive storybook adventures. My Thoughts

Super Why is a fun, interactive show that helps preschoolers learn to read by quite literally jumping into the story. In each episode, the cast of characters are faced with a challenge and they turn to classic books to learn the answers. It's always a great show with a lesson to be learned.  This DVD includes four awesome episodes that are all about puppies! They include:

Super Puppy Saves the Day
Woofster and the Pet Pack

Overall, this a great set of stories and I'm glad to see them on one DVD.  It's a great variety and my kids are thrilled to be able to watch whenever they want. They especially loved the dog theme on this set.

My Thoughts

Girls is a fun series that follows a group of women as they try to make it through their twenties. This is a time of life where there are a lot of changes. People start careers, and meet their future spouses. The four girls in this series go through relate-able issues while they build their lives, and they do it with both laughter and touching moments.  One dreams of being a writer, one is trying to be a therapist, and one is adjusting to marriage. Together, they make up a group that is easy to get attached to and always fun to watch.


Even though I am coming into this series late, I still really enjoyed it. I like the bond between the girls and how they stand by each other,  Boyfriends may come and go, but their friendship can survive anything. We all need a group of friends like this.
