Called “television at its most entertaining, stimulating best” (Philadelphia Inquirer) and a “smart, slick mystery series…a female cross between The Saint and James Bond: unstoppable, unbeatable and unapologetic” (MediaPost), Miss Fisher’s Murders Mysteries, Series 3 debuts on DVD and Blu-ray on October 27th from Acorn.
Armed with a razor-sharp wit (and a ladylike pistol),
Essie Davis (The Babadook, The Slap, Game of Thrones)
returns for more stylish mysteries as the glamorous Miss Phryne Fisher, a
lady detective in 1920s Australia with a fabulous sense of fun and a
flair for solving crimes. These sharply written
and gorgeously costumed episodes continue to find new fans in the U.S.
through Acorn’s syndication to public television and home video
releases.
The DVD and Blu-ray are available upon request and include all 8
episodes of Series 3 plus behind-the-scenes featurettes, character
clips, and Mr. Butler’s Drink of the Week.
My Thoughts
Miss Fisher
is back! The flapper has a new series of murders to solve, eight of
them to be exact, and she solves each one with her usual style and
flair. That's eight
hours of Miss Fisher complete with the sexy Inspector, his nice sidekick
Collins (this young man is starting to grow on me!), and the prudish
Dottie. And let's not forget the incredible historical setting of
Melbourne Australia in the twenties and the immaculate costumes. Here is a little about each episode:
Death Defying Feats - A magic trick goes terribly wrong when an assistant is guillotined on stage.
Murder and the Maiden - A body is found at the airbase and a airman is missing. Fisher runs into an old flame.
Murder and Mozzarella - An old woman is found covered in pasta sauce. Fisher must determine if it's related to the mafia or just a rival restaurant.
Blood and Money - A street kid asks Fisher to help him find his brother which leads to a string of murders of young boys.
Death and Hysteria- Someone gets electrocuted at a sanatorium and Fisher must determine if it was accidental or deliberate.
Death at the Grand - A hotel concierge is pushed from the roof with Fisher's purse in his hands. To make matters worse, her dad shows up on the scene.
Game, Set and Murder - When someone dies from a spider bite at a tennis tournament, Fisher suspects murder.
Death Do Us Part - In the midst of several marriages there are also a few murders and someone is out to get the Fisher family.
