My Thoughts
Cooking Mama 5: Bon Appetit is a great game for little girls with no violence and even some educational value. The game teaches kids all about cooking and encourages them to help out in the real kitchen. There are over 60 recipes included and the more you play, the more mini games you unlock. In addition to cooking, you can help Mama do the chores, harvest the ingredients, and hostess the shop where Mama delivers her orders. The Cooking Dojo feature allows you to earn medals for getting the jobs done before the clock stops. Finally, with Sport Pass you can earn bonus items like furniture or decorations to make your kitchen one of a kind.
In addition to single play, Cooking Mama can also be enjoyed with friends. If you select the Let's Play Together mode, up to three additional players can join in the fun by downloading the mini games onto an their 3DS. They won't need an additional game cartridge, but it will only work if you're playing with someone who does have one.
What I really love about this game is that it teaches my daughter about cooking real food. Since she started playing, she developed a serious interest in helping out during dinner and has even been baking her own desserts (with supervision of course). I think this makes this game a great choice for little girls and even tweens.
