Somersault Snacks Review

***Product was received for free in exchange for an honest review.***

Somersault Snack Co., is a natural food start-up based in Sausalito, CA. What are Somersaults? They’re a scrumptious nut-free sunflower seed snack with all the protein and half the fat of almonds. As our name suggests, our packaging is fun, featuring different characters symbolizing each flavor which kids love, and they’re healthy, which parents also love! An alternative to unwholesome snack foods that can give busy moms and their kids energy in bite size form. Our sweetest flavors Cinnamon Crunch and Dutch Cocoa only have 7 and 4g of sugar per serving, so there are no sugar highs or crashes to worry about, just sustained energy.

1 oz bags are great for lunchboxes, and the 6 oz resealable pouches are great for storing in the car, ready for whenever a snack attack strikes.

We’ve recently had our top two flavors – Pacific Sea Salt and Cinnamon Crunch- certified as GMO free by the NonGMO Project. In other news, your readers can now purchase nationally at Target and Costco!

Our five flavors include Pacific Sea Salt, Cinnamon Crunch, Salty Pepper, Dutch Cocoa and Santa Fe Salsa.

Our Thoughts

This really is a great snack option for being on the go, however, I personally keep thinking of hiking when I take a bite from one of these. I think this would be an awesome snack to bring along with you while you are out and about on a nature hike, not just for long car rides. Protein and fiber are sure to keep you feeling full and tie you over for your next meal.

As for the flavors and texture, I like the uniqueness ofof SomerSaults snacks. Little bite sized circles, you can taste the sunflower seeds (which I love) and the flavors are very distinct. I was not too impressed with the Dutch Cocoa or the Sea Salt. The Cocoa has a very tiny cocoa flavor to it but mainly tastes like the sunflower seeds. It would be great for a light "dessert" snack, but when I eat cocoa flavored items, I want to taste the cocoa! As for the Sea Salt, it was just a bit too salty for me, just not my personal taste, but others may love it.

By far, my aboslute favorite (and my kids') was the Cinnamon. Oh my word, they tasted just like roasted almonds in the winter time! These were the first to go, loved them so much, they just tasted amazing. A perfect dessert snack!!

The Salty Pepper was surprisingly good. I was a bit apprehensive of trying them after the Sea Salt but I actually like the pepper flavor. It works well in place of regular chips and could easily be eaten with a nice juicy burger in my opinion. The Santa Fe were just as surprisingly tasty and reminiscent of a Doritos chip. A tasty snack all on their own.

Healthy, tasty, flavorful snacks, surely something for each family member! Not to mention, how cute is the picture on the packages?!
