Join Life is Good & Celebrate Heroes of Optimism.

Life is Good® Celebrates Heroes of Optimism

Nationwide campaign spreads the power of optimism by honoring everyday heroes; every story shared provides $1 to support childcare professionals

Boston, MA (June 3, 2016) – Positive lifestyle brand Life is Good® announced today the launch of its Heroes of Optimism campaign to celebrate optimists who have inspired others and made a difference in their world. Every story shared will help raise funds to support childcare professionals working with the highest needs children nationwide. Stories will be collected and shared at lifeisgood.com and across social channels to #GROWtheGood.

Fans can share their Hero of Optimism story at www.lifeisgood.com/heroes, on Instagram using #GROWtheGood or via email at goodstories@lifeisgood.com. For every entry received, Life is Good will donate $1 to support childcare professionals who are everyday Heroes of Optimism for kids in need. The $1 donation program to support childcare professionals runs through August 3rd, 2016 or when $25,000 in donations is committed.

Life is Good was co-founded over 20 years ago by brothers Bert and John Jacobs, who were inspired by their mom, the first powerful optimist in their lives.  While the brothers struggled during the early years selling t-shirts from their van, they were motivated by the inspiring letters they received from people fighting to overcome life’s biggest challenges with the power of optimism.

“For over two decades, we have been receiving passionate letters from people touched by the brand during their most challenging times,” said Life is Good co-founder Bert Jacobs. “We recently started sharing these stories with our community and were moved by the impact they had on people’s lives. That’s why today we are launching a platform where anyone can share stories of optimism and inspire others to focus on the good.”

As part of Life is Good’s expedition to uncover the great stories of optimism everywhere, they will be visiting iconic American destinations.  Along the way the team will connect with partners including Lady Gaga’s Born this Way Foundation, which recently launched the most recent version of its Born Brave Survey, CorePower Yoga Boston, Watermark Conferences for Women, Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, ALEX AND ANI, MyGym and several others. My Thoughts:

I have always admired the Life is Good company for their stunning, quality products that always share inspiration. My mom has been a fan for years. When they reached out to tell us about a campaign such as this one, I remembered why I have adored them for so long. Life is Good is constantly trying to make life good for others too by giving back. Hearing about this opportunity to honor an inspirational person, made me think about all of the wonderful people who have been role models to me through the years.

The first person that comes to mind is my Pop-pop, a volunteer firefighter for 51 years who passed in the line of duty. Not only was he giving of his time, he was a humble family man who gave back to everyone he knew. He was constantly fixing and creating things for others, and never asked for anything in the return. The joy of knowing he helped someone was enough for him. My fondest memories of my childhood are those with him. The days we'd spend together bonding over his stories of being in the army, his teenage shenanigans of playing pranks on friends, the times I would help him clean his workshop while he built things for family and friends, and how he loved sharing his favorite pancakes with me. I would always try to spoil my Pop-pop too by giving him the first Christmas cookie I would bake with my Mom-mom. I would even pour him cups of tea from my tea party kits. It's memories like that you hold dear as you grow.

The unconditional love he showed me throughout my life, as well as the examples of his compassionate heart, is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Now in my own journey, I hold myself to his examples. I always put family first, try and give back as much as possible, and believe in my potential and dreams. He is my hero.

Life is Good was kind enough to send me a gorgeous shirt which you will see above. I am so thankful to them! It is oh so soft and bright pink. The fabric is quite thick and durable. That's something I have always loved about Life is Good products. They are not flimsy or thin. I gave the shirt to my mom as a surprise and she was thrilled. The Life is Good shirt I got her about six years ago is still her favorite. Now she has another to add!

Thank you, Life is Good for giving everyone an opportunity to reflect on their heroes and for donating to others as well!

Book Review: Burn This Book- A Creativity Tool

The title of this one grabbed me right off, so I jumped at the opportunity to review it. Fernando Suarezserna takes readers through a series of stories and exercises that are designed to help people become more creative and productive people.

He encourages the reader to take each exercise and step seriously in order to get the most out of the book, and I have to say that I love his philosophy regarding the exercises and book in general. He believes that once you have taken the time and effort to work through the book, you'll be able to "burn this book", so to speak. For him, that means passing along to book to someone else who might need it.

He talks about strategies to keep social media from taking away from your creative time, how to keep bad habits from messing with your life and routine, as well as not over doing when you start something new. Action boxes include setting your phone to airplane mode for 45 minutes, identifying bad habits, and defining your creative space.

Throughout the book, he tells stories from his childhood as well as stories like Wassily Kandinsky's. Each one is designed to teach and inspire one to take the steps in the book and take risks, as the author mentioned doing by deciding at 18 years old that he was going to get into guitar. Most would say that's too late to do so, but he went ahead and started lessons anyway. The of that story and Kandinsky's is that it's never too late to make a change in one's life and start something new.

I'd definitely recommend this to people just getting started in writing or some other endeavor, as well as those who might need a push to make some changes in their life and routine.

Holiday Gift Guide - Sapphire Soul Sacred Celebration Box

Every month, Sapphire Soul offers a collection of magical boxes that will inspire your mind, body, and soul. The focus of the December box is Sacred Celebration, and it's all about celebrating YOU.  In the midst of the holiday rush, most of our focus is on giving to others, but there's nothing wrong with giving a little time to yourself as well. Time to reflect, time to grow, and time to honor the abundance of blessings in your life. This box gives you all the tools you need for some deep and meaningful ME time. Here is a little about each of the items in the Sacred Celebration Box.
This is pure frankincense incense and the charcoal tablets to burn them on. This will fill your home with the relaxing fragrance of the season.

Golden candles and flowers are used to celebrate the return of the light. Once the winter solstice arrives, the light will gradually return and the days will get brighter.

This all natural lip balm is handmade at Sapphire Soul using high quality essential oils. The flavor I got to try was Coconut and Lemongrass and it definitely helps to warm your spirit and remind that summer is never far away.

The Sacred Celebration Gem Infused Oil will help set the mood in your sacred space. The aroma is pleasant and will help you focus.

This Kiran pendant is simply stunning and perfect for my Boho style. In addition to being a lovely accessory, it's also handmade by female artisans in India.

Finally, you receive this awesome "Dive In" deck which is filled with little wisdoms to help you develop a deep and meaningful relationship with yourself.

In addition to all of these fantastic gifts that you can use to honor yourself, each Sapphire Soul box arrives beautifully packaged and includes inspirational quotes and discount codes.
At Sapphire Soul, there are a variety of different boxes to choose from including the Mindful & Mystic Boxes. There are two different sizes that are $33 and $54 respectively, and they include a wide range of products. For those on a tighter budget, there are a few smaller packages available. You can get a Treasure Box starting at only $14.  There is also a Potions Pack, Chakra Crate, Conscious Kids Crate, and more. There is definitely something to suite every budget. It's the perfect way to try new things and maybe even bring a little magic into your life. You can also order individual items. Here are a few of my favorite gift ideas from their store.

Zymbol Bracelet Review

The Zymbol pendant was created accidentally. After the founder decided to write the phrase, “Love is all you need” with a peace sign all stacked on top of one another, all the letters of the alphabet in addition to numbers 0 through 9 were found embedded within the design. WOW! What were the chances of that happening, ever? Well, after wearing the pendant around town for a couple of weeks and getting enormous positive reactions from people it came to pass that the Zymbol pendant quickly became a personalized inspirational piece of  jewelry that can mean anything to anyone. Each Zymbol pendant comes with a gift card that allows one to trace their individual Zymbol (inspirational) message that can evolve and change for each day or simply remain constant. Wear yours and trace out names, places, dates, goals, challenges, inspirations, and anything that you are thankful for. The entire collection is truly a spirit lifter and has touched so many people in so many different places.

In addition, for every Zymbol sold the company gives an acrylic pendant to a child in the hospital for the sake of true inspiration.

Our Thoughts

Anything unique is right up my alley! This symbol can mean so many different things and it looks really cool too. I received the Zymbol bracelet (pictured below) and it fits nicely. The band wraps around itself so it is completely adjustable and I'm able to get it just right to where it's not sliding up and down my forearm, which is a major nuisance in bracelet wearing to me. I don't like taking jewelry on and off when I'm doing dishes but I also don't like wet bracelets against my arm, so being able to adjust this and move it up higher on my arm and then bring it right back down is very convenient!

Although each item is individualized for the meaning, I can't help but feel like I'm wearing some kind of superhero signal. My children were immediately interested in looking at how each letter and number fits into the bracelet and they started spelling out their names.

Zymbol creates necklaces, bracelets, earrings, charms and even ornaments that include the Zymbol symbol. They also create a line that is suitable to a male's liking as well.

I love that the company sends a Zymbol to a child in a hospital, that is a true act of kindness and inspiration. With Zymbol, there is something for everyone!

My Thoughts

I received a Prayer Puppy poucheez to review. The plush toy is very soft. The opening where you can stuff things such as money, ear buds, or whatever else a child would want to stuff inside is secure. It's a little hard top open and it closes fast, but it's nothing that would hurt a child. The plush material that is on the poucheez pet is also over the clasp.

This comes with a keychain, so it's easy for a child to place on their book bag, belt buckle, etc. My daughter had no problems latching it on or off anything.

The material is well made. I didn't find any off sticking. The quality was as expected. I own other pillow pet items, and this item had the same quality. My daughter loved this item and has already made it a part of her backpack where she loves to hang things.

Holiday Gift Guide - Sunrise Sunset - 52 Weeks of Awe & Gratitude Book Review

Much like life, the stage changes even when our vantage point doesn't. And so it is with the rising and setting sun, no two are ever the same. Every picture tells another color, shape and shadow story and thrive under the majesty of the sun.

Weiss offers all of this as a show of gratitude, a tribute to the awe of each new day. Sunrise Sunset is replete with glorious photographs of different days and different suns captured from the very same vantage point, the very same terrace. Complementing her photographs are meditations, passages, poetry, reflections and contemplations from some of the best known and loved inspirational leaders of our time: Jack Canfield, Marci Shimoff, Judith Orloff and many more. This is the ultimate gift book for saying 'thank you', sharing a blessing or offering an oasis for spiritual awakening. From sunrise to sunset, this will be a perennial bestseller.

Our Thoughts

What a refreshing read. Obviously not like most other books, this is one you can digest piece by piece and really savor the meaning on each page. With my morning cup of coffee, it was nice to sit down and read a few pages of inspiration. Seeing how others appreciate their specific wolds and what they contemplate on was nice. Some of the passages weren't applicable to me, but you're not going to get something for everyone.  Mostly it was just an overall dump of happiness each morning that you could soak up and get started on your day.

The pictures are breathtaking. It's amazing, the entirety of it, looking at the same thing every day. It puts time and history into perspective. The bright colors bring on a joyous atmosphere to your daily routine. A great book to pick up when you're feeling down, just flip through the pages and read any of the passages and it will give you some inspiration to be grateful for something, even on a bleak day!

Everyone can use more positivity in their life, Sunrise Sunset - 52 Weeks of Awe & Gratitude is the perfect book for it!
