Craft Party with Mr. Peabody & Sherman #peabodyinsiders #MrPeabody

My kids were already excited about the release of Mr. Peabody and Sherman, but Fox helped to make it an event they would never forget. We invited over a few friends for a screening. We had pizza, watched the movie, and made some really awesome crafts courtesy of Fox and Michael's. I'll tell you all about the party, but first here's a little about the movie.

Unleash the fun at home with the hilarious comedy-adventure, DreamWorks Animation’s MR. PEABODY & SHERMAN!  Mr. Peabody (Ty Burrell) is an inventor, scientist and genius who just happens to be a dog. With his son Sherman, he will embark on the most extraordinary adventure imaginable as they race against time to repair history and save the future. “Heartfelt and snappy” (Jessica Herndon, Associated Press), MR. PEABODY & SHERMAN has been hailed by critics as “a great adventure for the entire family” (Mike Wilbur, NBC Newschannel), receiving outstanding audience reaction and a coveted “A” CinemaScore®.

Directed by Rob Minkoff (THE LION KING, STUART LITTLE) and from the team behind family favorite franchises THE CROODS and HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, MR. PEABODY & SHERMAN is “fun” and “fast moving” (A.O. Scott, The New York Times) and features hilarious performances from an incredible voice cast of popular stars including Ty Burrell, Ariel Winter, Stephen Colbert, Leslie Mann, Max Charles, Patrick Warburton and Allison Janney.

MR. PEABODY AND SHERMAN is based upon the beloved characters that first appeared in in the late 1950s and early 1960s animated television series “Rocky and His Friends” and “The Bullwinkle Show,” produced by Jay Ward.

Sit back and go WABAC to experience the ultimate joy ride and loads of laughs when MR. PEABODY & SHERMAN arrives on Digital HD on September 23 and on Blu-ray 3D^™, Blu-ray^™ and DVD on October 14.  Jay Ward fans will want to get the 3D Blu-ray™ release which has everything for enthusiasts to celebrate the Jay Ward legacy including a 5-minute All New Rocky & Bullwinkle short and several original TV episodes.

Now that you know the basics, let's talk about the party. The first thing we did was to sit down for a fun pizza dinner with our Peabody and Sherman plates, cups, and napkins. Once dinner was finished, we turned on the film.

If you haven't seen the movie, it's all about a genius dog and the little boy he adopted. The two of them travel through time and go to some of my favorite places, including ancient Egypt and Renaissance Italy. They even get to meet Marie Antoinette and take a ride in the Trojan horse. I loved that this film taught my kids so much about real history in a way that made it interesting and fun. Anther great way to encourage that interest, was with fun crafts inspired by the film. Here are a few easy crafts you can do with your family.

My kids just loved these crafts, though we did substitute  crayons for paints for our Mona Lisa since the little ones are just too messy.  Our projects still turned out awesome.  Our "paintings" are proudly on display and they've been running out "flying" their airplanes all weekend.

We are definitely huge fans of Mr. Peabody & Sherman, and I'm sure it will become one of the classics we'll all watch together  when I have grandchildren!

Be sure to grab a copy of Peabody & Sherman for your family so you can start making memories. It's available now in stores nationwide or online at Amazon.

Our Free Birds Pizza Party #freebirdspizzaparty @fheinsiders @freebirdsmovie

Yesterday was the big day! My family and I got together for an extra special movie night courtesy of Fox Home Entertainment and Free Birds. If you haven't heard about Free Birds already, here is a little more about the film.

From the Academy Award®-Winning producer of Shrek* comes a hilarious animated adventure about two turkeys from opposite sides of the tracks who travel back in time in order to keep their species off the Thanksgiving menu. Featuring an all-star voice cast, including Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson and Amy Poehler, Free Birds is loaded with laughs and stuffed with fun for the whole family! Free Birds will be available on Blu-ray and DVD February 4th.

To celebrate the release of the film, we had a Free Birds Pizza Party. This was no random choice. If you've seen the movie, you'll know that in the course of their time-traveling adventure,  Reggie and Jake use pizza to change the history of Thanksgiving.  Our party may not have that huge of an effect on the world, but it was a fun day for us all the same.  Not only did we receive a gift card for Pizza Hut, but also fun Free Birds Swag to make our event even more fun. Some of the items include:

§  1 Cup

§  1 Paper plate

§  1 Pack of Crayons

§  1 Sticker sheet

§  1 Roll-up Tote bag

§  1 Short-sleeve T-shirt (adult small)

§  7 Activity/Coloring Sheets

Since this was a live twitter event, we spent the evening tweeting some our adventures as the movie progressed. Here are a few of my favorite tweets complete with images:

My husband just got here with our @pizzahut pizza! #FreeBirdsPizzaParty @FreeBirdsMovie @FoxHomeEnt

Don't let Reggie see you with those wings Gabby! #freebirdspizzaparty @FHEInsiders @pizzahut

Grumpy pants won't wear his @FreeBirdsMovie t-shirt. Maybe the Great Turkey should talk to him. #freebirdspizzaparty

Time to color while we watch because "if we didn't do things we'd be dumb". #freebirdspizzaparty @FHEInsiders

This group would definitely prefer pizza over turkey on Thanksgiving! #freebirdspizzaparty @FHEInsiders

As you can see, we had tons of fun. You can have your own Free Birds Pizza Party anytime you like! Just grab a copy of the movie and order in from Pizza Hut to make the evening special for your kids. New Age Mama Hosts The Croods Screening Party!

***Complimentary product received in exchange for an honest review***

This weekend, my family and I celebrated the release of The Croods on  DVD/Blu-ray combo with a fun pre-release party! My children invited over some of their friends and we had a day to remember. Before I tell you about the party, here is a little info on the movie:

Dun Dun Dahhh! Lauded by critics as “the first great animated film of 2013” (Pete Hammond, Movieline), Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment announces the blockbuster hit, DreamWorks Animation’s THE CROODS, will debut on Digital HD™ on September 15 and Blu-ray 3D™, Blu-ray™ and DVD on October 1. “An instant animated classic,” (Jake Hamilton, FOX-TV), THE CROODS promises to bring the whole family together “from 4 to 104” (Sam Rubin, KTLA), to delight in “stunning visuals, humor and heart,” (Jim Hill, Huffington Post) as the world’s first family embark on an unforgettable adventure.  The Blu-ray™ and DVD are chock full of fun bonus material that will bring the vibrant, amazing world of THE CROODS home for the whole family to enjoy.  The perfect treat for kids of all ages, THE CROODS Blu-ray™ and DVD comes with a lovable Belt plush toy for a limited time only.

Now, let me tell you about the awesome party and all the fun we had. First off, we received tons of cool party favors including paints, blankets, cups, puzzles and more! Everyone's favorite was the plush Belt! As soon as our guests arrived we got things started  by handing out the gift packs.

First off, we made plenty of popcorn and the kids ate it from their cool Crood cups. This made everyone feel like we were in a real movie theater. As soon as that was ready, we settled in to watch the film. During the course of the movie, the kids also enjoyed painting some authentic cave drawings and doing some of the fun Crood themed activity sheets. All through the movie they munched on their popcorn and cuddled into their blankets. Everyone loved how super soft they were.

The movie was really awesome. Its all about a Stone Age Family. They start out of their own because most of their friends have died off from mosquito bites and wild animals. But the Croods have managed to survive because their father never takes any chances. But when the oldest daughter Eep gets separated from her pack, she meets another new human named Guy whose a a bit of a loner. Sparks fly and Dad isn't happy but they still follow him into a brave new world that offers better food and conditions. The only problem is they have to face a lot of new challenges and father Crood does not like change.

This adorable movie is a great choice for the whole family. The characters are hilarious. I especially like Grandma Crood. She sure had a lot of spunk. I also really enjoyed the artistic interpretation of this Stone Age world. Both the animals and the plant life were bright and vivid and this added a whole new dimension to the film. Our screening consisted of kids between the ages of two and thirteen and all of them loved it!

Even after the movie was over, we still had fun playing with our movie-themed packs. After the guests went home, my family watched the movie for a second time. I think its destined to be a family favorite, especially with my toddler who thinks he's a cave man! If you're looking for a great film for the whole family, be sure to check out The Croods!
