LONDON KILLS (Acorn TV Original) (DVD/Blu-ray Debut)

“Superb British crime series… wonderfully nuanced… refreshing break from…American counterparts.” -Los Angeles Times

London’s best detectives take on its worst crimes in this sleek British mystery series from the creator of Suspects. Veteran DI David Bradford (Hugo SpeerFather Brown) heads an elite murder squad, but he’s been on leave following the unexplained disappearance of his wife. In his absence, ambitious DS Vivienne Cole (Sharon SmallThe Inspector Lynley Mysteries) has been leading the investigations, and when Bradford returns to work, the two clash over their methods and lines of inquiry. Despite the tension, Bradford and Cole strive to solve complex crimes, along with DC Rob Brady (Bailey PatrickBodyguard) and Trainee DC Billie Fitzgerald (Tori Allen-MartinUnforgotten). (DVD/Blu-ray 2-Disc set, 5 hour-long eps, $39.99) Premiered on Acorn TV.

My Thoughts

London Kills is crime drama set in the most dangerous area of London. The show centers around DI David Bradford who is in charge of a murder unit. He took a break from work when his wife disappeared, but now he's back on the hunt and clashing with his new female colleague. This fist season includes five episodes:

The Politician's Son - A man is stabbed and hung from a tree. Vivienne is angry when David returns to work and takes over the case.

Stag Night - A groom is murdered at his bachelor party. The young best man and the ex of the bride are both suspects.

Blood Lines - A man is killed on his houseboat. The widow reveals he was having an affair with his best friend's wife.

Sex Games - A woman is found in a river and the trail leads to a dating site.

Connected - Billie has been stabbed and her attacker is still at large.

This is an awesome series filled with complex crime and intriguing story lines. I really enjoyed the nail-biting suspense and the great cast. I can't wait to see what happens next season. You can crab the first series on DVD or Blu-ray at Acorn Media. You can it online at Amazon.
