AGATHA RAISIN, Series 2
AGATHA RAISIN, Series 2 (Acorn TV Original) (DVD Debut)
“Think Miss Marple with fashion sense and a sex drive, and that’s Agatha Raisin…A very welcome second season” -TV Guide
“My favorite show of the summer…comic mystery with delightful Ashley Jensen” -The New York Times
Ashley Jensen is “delightful” (The New York Times) and “hilarious” (Los Angeles Times) in these three feature-length mysteries based on M.C. Beaton’s best-selling novels. Formerly a high-flying PR executive in London, Agatha Raisin has now settled into small-town life in the Cotswolds, but her early retirement is far from quiet. Along with her friends Sir Charles (Jason Merrells, Waterloo Road), Roy (Mathew Horne, Gavin & Stacey), and Gemma (Katy Wix, Torchwood), Agatha solves the village’s bizarre murders with panache—but her love life may be a puzzle beyond even her skills to decipher. (DVD 3-Disc set, 3 feature-length eps, $39.99) Premiered on Acorn TV.
My Thoughts
While I love all the intense crime thrillers available today, it's also nice to find one with a little humor once in a while. Agatha Raisin offers just that. After almost being accused of murder herself, the former executive discovers she's pretty good a solving crimes. As more people turn up dead, she joins forces with the local detective to bring the murderers to justice. This second season includes three feature-length episodes.
The Wizard of Evesham - There's trouble in town when a hair stylist starts blackmailing all the locals.
The Fairies of Fryfam - Agatha is trying to have a relaxing vacation, but gets pulled into drama when a woman asks for help proving her husband is having an affair.
The Curious Curate - A handsome curate catches the eye of the local ladies, but when someone turns up dead, Agatha has to help prove her best friend is innocent.
I really enjoyed this series Agatha is quirky and makes me laugh at times, yet I still get a good muster every time. I'd looking forward to seeing what comes about in the next season. If you'd like to grab a copy of his awesome new series, you can find it online at Acorn Media or on Amazon.
