Sando on DVD

Acorn TV features the DVD debut of outlandish Acorn TV Original Series SANDO on September 25, 2018. Akin to an Aussie Arrested Development, this new Australian family comedy stars award-winning actress Sacha Horler (Jack Irish, Crownies) as Victoria ‘Sando’ Sandringham, a charismatic loose cannon CEO and public face of a popular discount furniture store chain, as she tries to reconnect with her estranged family in order to win back her beloved company, Sando’s Warehouse. The 1-Disc DVD features 6 episodes and bonus ($39.99, Amazon.com). Sando made its U.S. premiere in May 2018 on Acorn TV. Called a “glorious streaming service… an essential must-have” (The Hollywood Reporter), Acorn TV is North America’s most popular streaming service focused on British and international television from RLJ Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ: RLJE).

Charismatic but conceited Victoria “Sando” Sandringham (Horler) made a name for herself as the “package deal queen” of her furniture empire. But after an outrageous indiscretion at the wedding of her daughter, Susie (Krew BoylanA Place to Call Home), Sando’s family cut her out of their lives. Ten years later, Sando is being forced out of her company, too. With nowhere to go, she tries to worm her way back into her family’s good graces, but they have problems of their own. Susie’s patience is constantly tested by her dim-witted brother Eric (Dylan HespRaw Comedy), while Sando’s ex, Don (Phil LloydThe Moodys), is having an affair with his daughter’s best friend (Adele VukoUnderbelly). As tension builds in the household, can Sando win back her family and her business, or will her selfishness be a deal breaker? With "echoes...of Arrested Development” (The Sydney Morning Herald), this madcap Australian comedy delivers riotous laughs and outlandish characters.

My Thoughts

Victoria, who goes by the nickname Sando, is the queen of package deals. But after she makes a fool of herself at her daughter Susie's wedding, she finds herself alone. After losing her business, she longs to reunite with her family, but they already have a ton of problems including scandalous affairs and annoying siblings. This first season includes six hilarious episodes.

Prodigal Mum - Ten years after ruining her daughter's wedding, Sando shows up looking to make amends. She gets invited to her granddaughter's birthday party.

Sorry - Sando movies in with Susie, along with her brother. Susie's dad is also having an affair with her best friend.

New Mum - Sando blackmails her ex about his relationship. Eric wants to join the family business and Gary deals with addiction.

Therapy - Susie orders Sando into therapy. Gary is angry when Susie's ex shows up.

Lockdown - Erik likes Nicky and Don books a gig. Sando's job is on the line when she gets locked in a room with Don.

Family Business - Sando needs to make a commercial with her family to please the board, and it's going to be a challenge.

This hilarious series shows us how family can test our patience, but proves that blood is usually thicker than water. You can grab a copy of his funny DVD set on Acorn media for only $39.99. You can also find it on amazon.
