My Thoughts

Murdoch Mysteries is one of my favorite crime based shows. I love period drama, and I love learning about criminal investigations. This show combines both in a late 1890 - early 1900 setting. You'll learn how forensics experts solved the cases before they had the help of computers and DNA.  The cast of characters are funny, interesting, and diverse. This season includes 18 new episodes.

Up From Ashes - Murdoch has been arrested for murdering a dancer, but Watts tries to set him free. Julia is still missing.

Merlot Mysteries - During a wedding, the groom's father is poisoned during a toast.

8 Footsteps - Murdoch & Julia go to a dinner honoring Helen Keller, and one of the guests is murdered. Alexander Graham Bell helps solve the mystery.

The Canadian Patient - A doctor claims an operation was sabotaged which resulted in the death of his patient.

Dr. Osler Regrets - Julia's mentor is accused of murder. Crabtree gets a visit from a journalist.

21 Murdoch Street - An Indian diplomat asks Murdoch to help find their missing children.

The Accident -Murdoch discovers that sabotage was involved in a deadly motorcar accident.

Brackenrein Boudoir - Murdoch finds a body when he goes camping. Brackenreid helps to find the killer by going undercover with the artists who might be responsible.

The Talking Dead- Obituaries are being printed before the victims actually die.

F.L.A.S.H.!. - A man is found dead with a note written in code, and the investigation leads to the investors of a high-speed transportation invention.

Biffers & Blockers - Murdoch goes to a cricket match and someone is killed when one of the balls blow up.

Mary Wept - A statue of Mary weeps blood, and the church doesn't want to allow an investigation because they think its a miracle.

Crabtree a la Carte - Margaret and Crabtree enter a cooking contest. A judge is poisoned and Crabtree fears he may  have been as well.

The Great White Moose - A Spanish agent electrocuted and a famous assassin may be to blame.

Murdoch Schmurdoch - The owner of a Yiddish theater is killed and anti-semitics are suspected.

Game of Kings - A chess master is killed and the only witness claims it was a knight with a lance on a winged horse.

Shadows Are Falling - Miss Jame's boyfriend is accused of murder and the team tries to prove his innocence.

Free Falling - Murdoch helps a man looking for his missing wife, and Crabtree things about his marraige. All of episodes are a bit on the dark side, but they are always tempered with humor. Both the costumes and the sets are realistic and really help to paint a picture of the time period.   This series is definitely a refreshing switch from the norm, and I'm looking forward to watching the  next season. If you want to take the advantage of a full set of amazing old world  stories, than this is the box set for you. You can order Murdoch Mysteries: Season 11 on DVD or Blu-ray on Acorn Media or Amazon.
