My
Thoughts

George Gently is a series about a cop in  a class all his own, based on the novels by Alan Hunter. Martin Shaw does a fabulous job in his role and really makes the show come to life.Like many detective series, there are some episodes that are stand alone murder mysteries and others that are part of the larger storyline.  The series is set in 1960's Britain, and the costumes and scenery really bring to life this classic era.

This set includes every episode from all eight seasons, so it's too much to cover each one individually, but these were my top three favorites.

Hallo'ween Party - A young girl is murdered at a costume party and a crime novelist calls in Poirot to collaborate. It turns out the girl had been a possible witness to another murder and the pair set out to find a killer in the quaint little town.

Murder of the Orient Express - A train gets stuck in a snowstorm and when a murder takes place, only Poirot came find the killer aboard a train filled with rich foreigners and royalty.

The Clocks - Poirot heads to Dover to help with a naval investigation. An unidentified body and clocks stopped at the same odd time lead to a slew of suspects. As more murders take place, including the death of a German spy, Poirot must determine who the real villain is.

This are only a few examples of what you'll find in this set. Each episode is packed with action. You can easily watch all eight seasons back to back and never get bored. In addition to getting all the shows for one low price, there is also tons of wonderful bonus features, like a look behind the scenes, interviews, and a photo gallery.

Overall, this was a great show from beginning to end.  I'm sorry to see it come to an end.  If you want to take advantage of a full set of amazing  stories that will leave you on the edge of your seat, than this is the box set for you. You can order George Gently The Complete Collection on Blu-ray Disc or DVD at Acorn Media or on Amazon.
