Acceptable Risk Review

The high-end transatlantic ITV and Acorn TV Original Series ACCEPTABLE RISK makes its DVD and Blu-ray debut on December 26, 2017 from Acorn TV, an RLJ Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ: RLJE) brand. This edge-of-the-seat thriller follows Sarah Manning (Elaine CassidyThe Paradise, No Offence, The Others) as she comes to realize how little she knew about her husband, Lee, before he was murdered. Her growing suspicions around his death lead Sarah to confront a powerful conspiracy of corporate, police and political interests, extending from Dublin to Montreal, in which her own family may be complicit. The DVD and Blu-ray 2-Disc Sets feature 6 episodes, plus bonus cast interviews and behind-the-scenes featurettes ($39.99, Amazon.com). Acceptable Risk made its U.S. premiere in October 2017 on Acorn TV. Called a “glorious streaming service… an essential must-have” (The Hollywood Reporter), Acorn TV is North America’s most popular and largest streaming service focused on British and international television.

When Sarah Manning’s husband, Lee, is killed while on business in Montreal, her life back in Dublin starts to spin out of control. Sarah soon realizes she knew little about her husband’s past or his job at a powerful international pharmaceutical company. Assigned to the case, Detective Emer Byrne (Angeline BallShameless [UK]) doggedly investigates the conflicting evidence, even in defiance of her superior’s order. As more lies surface, Sarah begins to suspect that Lee’s murder could be connected to the death of her first husband. Did both men know a terrible secret that got them killed?

Also starring Morten Suurballe (The Killing [Denmark]) and Lisa Dwyer Hogg (The Fall), this gripping international thriller follows Sarah’s high-stakes fight for the truth amidst a conspiracy of corporate, police, and political interests.

My Thoughts

Acceptable Risk is a brand new series that centers about a women named Sarah Manning. Her husband is killed on a business trip, and her death reveals secrets about his job at a big pharmaceutical company. Detective Emer Byrne is assigned to the case, but she is constantly faced with conflicting evidence. This season is broken down into six exciting episodes

1 - Sarah learns of her husband's death and realizes she didn't know him very well. To make matters worse, she is a suspect in his death.

2 - Bryne still suspects Sarah, but Gumbiner-Fischer looks suspicious as well. Sarah is determined to find her husband's real killer.

3- The case is closed with no real answers, and Sara keeps looking for the truth.

4- Bryne won't give up the case even though her boss tell her to call it quits.

5- Nulty encourages the detective to reopen the case. Sarah learns something that might set her on the track of the killer.

6- Sarah gets a confession out of Nuala, and finds a document that may lead to the discover of the killer.

This is a great new series and a wonderful addition to the Acorn Media family. I like how it focuses on the victim's family as well as the detective. It puts a new twist on crime shows.  I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the next season. You can grab this DVD set online at Acorn media for $39.99. It's also available on Amazon.
