My Thoughts

Showing Roots in an inspirational film about two friends. It's set in the seventies in a small Southern town. Maggie and Uzo have a unique friendship. One is black and one is white, which was still odd in that part of the country. After watching Roots, they are encouraged to open the minds of their neighbors, and work together to help bring integration to their town. They inspire change and tolerance, but also face a few challenges along the way.

This is a amazing movie about the power of friendship. It only took two women to set an example for their whole town, and they helped to usher in a a new era of equality. It was just one town and one small group of people, but every step toward equality is a great one. I loved this movie and everything it stands for.  In addition to being an excellent film with a great moral, it has has stellar cast and realistic backdrops. It's a must watch for anyone, but especially fans of Roots.
