Disney and Dreamworks invite you to take a step back into an era of espionage and Cold War. Steven Spielberg directs a dramatic thriller set against the backdrop of a series of historic events, Bridge of Spies tells the story of James Donovan (Tom Hanks), a Brooklyn lawyer who finds himself thrust into the center of the Cold War when the CIA sends him on a near impossible mission to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot. Bring home this high stakes  suspense story on Blu-ray™ Combo Pack and Digital HD February 2, 2016.

My Thoughts

I have always been a huge fan of Tom Hanks. Any movie that he stars is amazing, and this one is no different.   In Bridge of Spies, set in 1957,  Hanks plays an attorney named James Donovan. His firm appoints him to represent a suspected Russian spy named Rudolf Abel even though he is primarily responsible for insurance cases. Abel is a little old man who is  hard to dislike, and who could be facing the death penalty for the crimes he's been accused of.

Despite his lack of experience in the field, Donovan discovers there was never a warrant issued. When he presents this to the judge, it seems like people aren't really interested in justice. Before long, Donovan finds his own family is in danger simply because he tried to present a fair defense. Never letting this deter him, he fights for his client's life.

This was such an exciting film, and what makes it even more entertaining is the fact that it's inspired by actual events. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The acting was superb and the costumes and backdrops were very realistic. Any history buff or anyone who likes a well-written story will enjoy this film.
