Our Thoughts
When we recently purchased our new home, we made a list of things that we "MUST" get done before we could really move in and a list of things that were our "WISH LIST" of things. Because the house was a foreclosure, there were a multitude of the "MUST" list and the "WISH LIST" quickly grew, too. The sink in the kitchen was older (the house is only 8-years-old), looked rough and was on the "WISH LIST" to get replaced. Seeing that there was a nice long "MUST" list, we figured that the sink would be replaced when we redid the counters in the kitchen a few years down the line. Needless to say I was ecstatic when FrankeUSA contacted us about doing a review on their Fast-In Quick Install sink!
The sink arrived quickly and was well packed. The box wasn't that heavy but because it was well packed, the carrier had a hard time bringing it up to the house by herself because she's a small woman and just couldn't get her arms around the box, so I helped her bring it in. Once in the house and once hubby was home from work, we unpacked the sink and started with the directions. There weren't many directions because this is a simple install and not much was required.
First thing was first, we had to remove the old sink. Removing the old sink seriously took longer than installing the new one! We ended up having to pry the old sink out with a crowbar! Once the old sink was out of the counter, we cleaned up the area and made sure that the silicone that had been around the hole so we could start with a new slate for the new sink. While I cleaned up, hubby got the silicone that we needed for the new install and installed the faucet. He put a bead line of silicone around the underside of the new sink -making sure that it was close to the edge as that is what is going to cement the seal of your sink to the counter and not allow debris from the counter to get under the lip of the sink. He picked up the sink and gently dropped it in the hole. We did have to push on the edges a bit to get it to click into place but the install was as simple as that!
The only thing we ran into that we should've thought about but didn't was that because our old sink was not as deep as this one, we needed to redo some of the plumbing under the sink itself. We had to make a couple runs to the hardware store to get some different PVC piping and some plumbers cement along with drain inserts for the new sink. All in all though, the installation of the new sink -even with the extra time spent on the plumbing- took about 30 minutes to complete. Removing the old sink took us about 45 minutes.
I highly recommend this sink for anyone looking to do an easy replacement of their current sink. It's quick, it's easy, it's durable, it's deep (one side can hold about a dishwasher full of dishes!). The Fast-In Sink is something I hoped for when we got this new home and I'm not disappointed in it at all!
