Holiday Gift Guide -Rockboard Scooter

If you have a grade school child or a tween, you probably know that scooters are the in thing right now. I barely ever see kids riding on bikes anymore. It's always scooters. There are tons of different ones out there. Some of them are motorized, and some can even convert into a skateboard. But the coolest scooter I have come across to date is the Rockboard. While it can be used as a regular foot push scooter, it also  provides revolutionary propulsion without the need for batteries or gasoline.

We were lucky enough to receive an amazing Rockboard to review and my son was thrilled with it. It arrived just the other day, and I thought it would be awhile before I would be able to try it out because I'm not the best at putting things together. But I was excited to see it was pretty easy to assemble.  Just add the handles to the base and it's ready to go. You can leave the board down and use it as a regular kick scooter, or you can really fly by putting up the rocker mechanism.  It works kind of like a sea saw by pumping the board up and down which keeps you moving at a much faster pace than kicking alone.

It took a few tries, but my son got the hang the scooter pretty quickly. He is thirteen. Younger kids may  need a little more practice.  It takes a lot of balance to stay on and pump the device hard enough to keep it going. I actually like the idea of it being challenging. You can't use a skateboard the first time you try it either. The Rockboard is encouraging my son to work hard and it will help improve his  balance and coordination. It also gets him up off his butt and away from the video games for awhile.

The Rockboard is available in a variety of fun colors including orange, pink, blue, and white. It comes in both regular size for kids eight and up as well as a mini version for younger kids. If you want to get one for your own child, they are available in retailers nationwide including Target and Toys R Us. They can also be purchased online at Target.com and Amazon.com.
