DVD Review : DESCENDANTS

Meet the next generation of villains in Disney's DESCENDANTS! Imprisoned on the Isle of the Lost, home of the most infamous villains who ever lived, the kids of Maleficent (Kristen Chenoweth), the Evil Queen, Jafar and Cruella De Vil have never ventured off the island... until now. Sent to idyllic Auradon to attend prep school alongside the children of beloved Disney heroes, these villainous kids must execute a plan that helps their evil parents achieve "world domination" once again! Will Maleficent's daughter (Dove Cameron) and the other rebel teens follow in their rotten parents' footsteps or will they choose to embrace their innate goodness and save the kingdom? Co-starring Booboo Stewart, Cameron Boyce and introducing newcomer Sofia Carson, this wickedly cool comedy adventure is awesome to the core!

My Thoughts

In this film, four of Disney's most infamous villains are training their children to follow in their footsteps.  Even though they've been banished to the Land of the Lost, Maleficent, The Evil Queen (from Snow White), Jafar, and Cruella are still plotting to take over the world.  When their children are hand-selected to attend a private boarding school in Auradon, it seems like the perfect opportunity.

Back in Auradon, the son of Beauty and the Beast is about to be crowned king. It was his idea to bring in the evil offspring because he believed they deserved a chance to prove themselves. But not everyone is happy about it. Aurora's daughter still has a chip on her shoulder about Maleficent trying to kill her parents, and it doesn't help when she and Malificent's daughter both have intentions toward the king. At first, for Live, it's all part of the plan, but eventually she starts to have real feelings for him. But are those feelings enough to overcome the evil life she was born into? You'll have to watch to find out.

Descendants is a great movie filled with fun songs and great characters. It is a little on the corny side, but in a good way. I also loved all the little shout outs to other great films. For example, getting to meet the daughter of Mulan.  I enjoyed this movie just as much as my children. It's destined to become a classic just like the cartoons that inspired it.
