Book Review & #Giveaway - Max & Tallulah from Parragon Books

Max and Tallulah is a fascinating love story for children to enjoy. Max the Zebra is too shy to tell Tallulah how much he loves her. He tries a variety of ways to get her attention, but each time, something goes wrong! Finally, Max has the best idea of all. This heartwarming tale of love, friendship, and just being yourself is perfect for children to connect with and learn from.

My Thoughts

Max and Tallulah is the the perfect book for Valentine's Day. It centers around a pair of zebras. Max is in love with Tallulah, and decides he wants to win her affection. He does a bunch of over-the-top things, like gathering her a huge tray of fruits as a gift, learning a crazy dance, and making a giant hat. Each time, he either misses Tallulah all together or scares her away. In the end, he decides to simply be himself, and this turns out to be the best choice of all. Tallulah likes Max just as he is.

Max and Tallulah is a beautifully illustrated picture book with a storyline that's perfect for preschool aged children. It's not too long, so it holds their attention, and they'll really enjoy the colorful characters. However, the thing I like best is that it teaches children the importance of being themselves. With so much peer pressure and bullying out there, this is an important lesson to instill early on in childhood.  Kids need to know that, like Max, the people that matter will care about them without them having to overdo it or change who they are.
