With Halloween around the corner, you will soon be faced with mountains of candy full of artificial ingredients.  Check out this round-up of healthier Halloween treats - without the tricky ingredients!

·         Alter EcoNew Organic Salted Caramel Truffles are crafted with Ecuadorian dark chocolate, speckled with French sea salt, covering a melt-in-your-mouth coconut oil center with a creamy caramel bite. Bonus: the company practices full-circle sustainability, including wrapping these delightful treats in a compostable wrapper.

·         ginnybakes – The adorably packaged Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Bliss ginnyminis are perfectly portioned bites of happiness, combining organic gluten-free rolled oats with organic dark chocolate chips, shredded coconut, and hints of cinnamon and vanilla for a whole foods treat. Developed by a holistic nutritionist, ginnybakes products are organic, gluten free and perfect for everyone who wants a delicious, mindful indulgence.

·         Madécasse – This Toasted Coconut Chocolate is made with dark, fruity 70% chocolate and topped with crunchy flakes of real toasted coconut for a bold, tropical experience! Madécasse’s high-quality, Fair Trade chocolate is the only bean-to-bar chocolate grown, harvested and hand-wrapped entirely in Africa.
My Thoughts

I love chocolate, especially gourmet chocolate truffles. Its a big weakness for me, and one I don't want to resist. Alter Eco have taken chocolate to a whole new level.  Their chocolate truffles are a rich and decadent treat that will melt it your mouth. They come in both milk and dark chocolate varieties with a hard shell and a smooth center.  The newest variety includes just a hint of salt mixed in with the smooth caramel center. Once you take even one small nibble, you won't be able to stop yourself from wanting more.

In addition to tasting great, these truffles offer another important  advantage. Alter Eco is a fair trade company and each of their products are made from organic ingredients, like coconut oil. But they don't stop there. Their box is made from recycled material and even the wrappers are compostable. Everything about these chocolates is good for you and the environment. Its wonderful to be able to indulge in such a delectable treat and still know you're doing your part for the environment!

I also tried out the Madecasse Toasted Coconut bars, and they were equally amazing. I have always loved coconut and chocolate, but this has none of the sticky syrups inside most chocolate covered coconut. It's made with only fair trade cocoa and toasted coconut, giving you the best of both worlds in one mouth watering bar. Each bite was a little slice of heaven.

Alter Eco Truffles & Madecasse bars are a wonderful way to spoil yourself this Halloween. They're treats for a more mature pallet,  and they would also make a great stocking stuffer this holiday season!

The salted caramel truffles sound delicious. Never a bad idea to substitute healthier chocolates when you have a craving.
