DVD Review: Marple, Series 6

Agatha Christie’s Marple, Series 6 (DVD) – The new and final three episodes of the hit long-running ITV mystery series starring Julia McKenzie. These episodes will make their U.S. premiere on Masterpiece Mystery! on PBS as ‘Season 7’ and will be added the day after their broadcast to Acorn TV. A Caribbean Mystery and Greenshaw’s Folly premiere on PBS on Sunday, Sept. 21 and on Acorn TV on Monday, Sept. 22; and Endless Night premieres on PBS on Sunday, Sept. 28 and on Acorn TV Monday, Sept. 29. The DVD 3-disc set includes a behind the scenes bonus feature on the final episode

 My Thoughts

I just love Marple. She's a spunky heroine who never lets any one get in the way of uncovering the truth. This amateur detective often outdoes the authorities when its comes to solving crime in 1950s England.  Series 6 includes three full length episodes:

A CARIBBEAN MYSTERY - Marple heads to the Caribbean Islands, hoping the warm weather will help her arthritis. But even on vacation she can't get a break from murder. When another guest at the posh resort turns up dead, Marple finds herself wrapped up in dark magic and deceit.

GREENSHAW'S FOLLY - A young mother shows up at Marple's house in the middle of the night, begging for help. The only problem is, the place that Marple tries to hide her and her son might be more dangerous than the problem they're fleeing.

ENDLESS NIGHT- Marple meets a handsome chauffeur on a visit to her widow friend. The gentleman has a tragic past that looks like it's finally turning around, but just when he thinks he has his happy ending, people start dying.

This series shows the world what women are really made of, especially little old spinsters. I've only gotten to watch the series in bits and pieces, but each show is like a stand alone movie. I just can't get enough of Marple.  If you'd like to order this fantastic set of mysteries you can find it on Acorn Media for only $49.99 or on Amazon.

I don't watch PBS much so I haven't seen this before. Looks like I've been missing out!
