Harkiss Designs Review & Giveaway

Harkiss is based on the idea of compassionate capitalism. Every product is made by East African artisans (most of whom are women responsible for supporting their entire family) in the comfortable and safe setting of a co-op in their community. We carefully selected these talented artisans and the sustainable materials they use—fabric woven from the pulp of the kukui nut and beads sourced locally. Harkiss Designs is also Fair Trade Federation certified, so you can trust that each and every product is ethically sourced and produced.

Where else could you find lustrous, cow horn napkin rings or naturally shaped salt and pepper shakers? Impress your guests with exquisite, hand-carved ebony salad servers and bone-inlaid sustainable rosewood bowls from Ugandan & Kenyan artisans. Outfit your pantry and dining table with expertly woven baskets. Accessorize your bath and office with naturally unique counter and desktop items. Whether you select a few statement pieces or several, your purchases from Harkiss Designs give your home and office inimitable panache.

Our Thoughts

I love hand crafted products and natural products, obviously. These truly are exquisite and lovely quality. Each item adds a touch of beauty to your household.

A banana basket! What an ingenious idea! We love bananas here and eat them daily, I love showing my kids they're not only good (and useful) on the inside but you can make stuff out of them too! Much larger than the picture depicts, it holds a nice spot next to our front door as our "drop off" point for change and keys. It looks lovely there! It's also really sturdy, not like cheap baskets you get at cheap stores where they start to peel apart.
No more dust on my jewelry! I have a bowl or cute box that I put everything in, but over time dust gets all over it. With this adorable storage basket I don't have to worry about dirty jewelry anymore AND it's a lovely table piece on top of my dresser. The material is very soft and the lid fits perfectly on top so it doesn't fall in the basket.

How cool are these bowls? They are carved from cow horns and are really soft. I also received a flower vase made of the same material. One of the serving bowls I received was a dark color so the contrast of the bowls and vase is a real eye-catcher on my table.  You can use them for more than food items, they'd make great coin catchers too. Or kid hats as my five year old has shown me, she really likes the small serving bowl. They're hard but not hard enough that I'm afraid they'll break if they fall on the ground. Shiny and pretty for whatever you use them for. I appreciate the craftsmanship on all of these pieces!

Don't forget to check them out on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest!
