My Thoughts

Frankie & Alice is the true story of a African-American woman with dissociative identity disorder.  This is a story that has been told a millions times, but never quite like this. The identities are so vastly different, it's hard to grasp how such a split could happen. One moment, she's Frankie, a go-go dancer, the next she's a white southern woman with a racist attitude. There are even glimpses of a childlike personality named Genius. Only with the help of her psychotherapist can Frankie find the route of her problems and try to heal her fractured mind and heart.

Halle Berry is absolutely brilliant. She deserved to win a Oscar for this film and I can't believe it never even hit theaters. Her depiction of Frankie and her alter egos are amazing. It's as though its different people playing each role. From seductive to childlike to uptight southern bell.  She conveys all  of them beautifully, without every skipping a beat. This movie is a story that will leave you with tears in your eyes. It's hard not to feel for Frankie when her secrets are finally  revealed. No one should have to experience such abuse, and knowing the movie is based off a true story touches your heart even more.
