Back to Schoo Must Have - Smart Snacking with Bitsy's Brainfood

Bitsy's Brainfood was started by two new moms who shared a simple belief — that healthy bodies and healthy minds are connected, and that learning to eat smart should be fun.

The fact is that certain foods are smarter than others. So the idea was to create Bitsy's Brainfood, a line of smart snacks… bite-sized treats packed with the good stuff to help support developing bodies and brains, like vitamins and Omega-3, and packaged with content that's educational and oh-mega cool. Plus, we've yet to meet a kid who doesn't love snacks or a parent who doesn't crave nutritious, on-the-go options.

My Thoughts

Whether you want to send your kids off to school with a balanced breakfast or stick a treat in their lunch bag, Bitsy's Brainfood has what you're looking for. These fun finger foods taste amazing, but are also made from healthy ingredients like organic fruits and vegetables.  Whether you choose the cookies or the cereal, you're getting a treat packed with vitamins that is completely kosher, gluten free, and even vegan friendly.  We tried out several of their products and they were a huge hit with my family.

If your kids love those sugary fruit-flavored cereals, this is the perfect substitute. They still have all the flavor kids crave, but that flavor is provided the natural way. Each bowl gives you a serving of fruits and veggies. This a great way to sneak some vegetables to my toddler, who throws anything green right back in my face. They taste great with milk or can be used as finger foods. Each box also comes with games that help stimulate brain development just as much as the healthy ingredients. The number shapes have also hoped my little learn improve with their counting.

The cookies were an even bigger hit with my kids. They come in four tasty varieties, including Zucchini Gingerbread Carrot, Orange Chocolate Beet, Lemon Broccoli, and Sweet Potato Oatmeal Raisin. While my older kids who can read found these titles intimidating, they had to admit they tasted great. The fruit flavors mask the veggie taste enough that kids won't notice them. My younger kids enjoyed the letter shapes. We had fun searching for the letters to spell out their names. The stickers inside every box was another great bonus. They are the perfect size to toss in a lunchbox for school but also make a great after dinner snack.
