Blu-Ray Review - Nut Job

Be prepared for one squirrelly adventure in the action-packed comedy, The Nut Job, starring Will Arnett (Despicable Me, Ratatouille) as Surly, a mischievous squirrel on a mission to prove himself. The Nut Job comes to Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray Combo Pack including Blu-ray, DVD, & DIGITAL HD with UltraViolet as well as On Demand on April 15, 2014, from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The film will also be available on DIGITAL HD one week early on April 8, 2014.

Surly (Arnett) is a mischievous squirrel with a mission: to find the tastiest nuts for winter. When he discovers a whole store filled with his favorite food, he plans a heist of nutrageous proportions. But the place turns out to be owned by ruthless bank robbers so it’s up to Surly and his furry friends to stop the nearby bank heist and save the town.

Showcasing an all-star cast including Brendan Fraser (The Mummy, Whole Lotta Love), Liam Neeson (Non-Stop, The Grey), Katherine Heigl (Knocked Up, The Ugly Truth), Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids, Turbo), Jeff Dunham (Arguing With Myself, Spark of Insanity) and Gabriel Iglesias (Magic Mike, Hot & Fluffy), The Nut Job will prove “Enormously Entertaining” for the whole family (Avi Offer, NYC Movie Guru)!

Where to Buy

Nut Job is available now in stores nationwide. It can also be purchased on Amazon.

My Thoughts

Nut Job is an adorable story about a squirrel named Surly who is trying to stock up on nuts for the winter. A little girl squirrel named Andie tries to get him to share his stash because there is a shortage, but through a series of unfortunate events, the animals loose everything they've collected and Surly is banished by the head raccoon. In the city, he discovers that stores have stocked up on his favorite food and he plans a heist to set himself up for the winter. Of course when Andie finds out she wants to tag along. But a group of sinister humans have a bigger heist in the works and it's up to the forest animals to save the whole town. They also have to overcome the head raccoon who turns out to be the real culprit behind the lost food supply.

The Nut Job is a cute movie with colorful characters and a lot of funny one-liners. I have four kids ranging in age from two to thirteen, and they all enjoyed this film. The squirrels were great but our favorite character was the Precious the Pug. There are no strong moral lessons but it's still a fun movie and very entertaining.

As has been mentioned, it's an adorable story primarily about these squirrels, that's name are Surly and Andie. While Surly is trying to stock up on nuts for the winter to ensure there's food and And asks him to share because of a shortage (thanks to a culprit - a raccoon).

I'm going to have to get this so me and my lovely wife can watch it together. It looks like it would make her roll around laughing and when she does that it just makes my heart feel good.

We really like most of the movies that are similar to this. Thanks for the info. Once I have an income again, I am hoping to start getting my Blu-Ray collection growing again and this one is on the list.
