School Scrabble Tournament registration is open! Register now for a chance to win $10,000!Teams (between grades 4-8) from the USA and Canada are invited to participate in the multi-day event that includes 8 rounds of competition and fun on-site events.

The entry fee is USD $100/team. The 2014 Champions will take home USD $10,000, plus the Champions Trophy and a great selection of Hasbro games.

 My Thoughts

Scrabble is probably my all-time favorite game. Any lover of words is going to enjoy the chance to show off their spelling master abilities. This is one game that hasn't changed much over the years. The object is still the same. Get the most points for spelling the best and biggest words to win. Each set comes with 100 letter tiles, 4 tile racks, game board, tile pouch, and rule book. There are also twelve "power tiles" and these are a little different than you might remember. The blank tiles are colored and now count as three points.  There are also star tiles that allow you to block off a spot to save it for a future move. Using the new tiles is completely optional and simply a way to mix things up a little. If you prefer keeping things simple, just leave those pieces out.  Either way, Scrabble is definitely a fun classic game every family should have handy for game night.
