About the Company

It all started at a swimming pool in Pleasantville, New York. Taylor and Demi, daughters of Eleni and Jeff McClung, completed their day’s practice and wanted something dry and warm for the ride back home.

At first, mom wrapped them in colorful towels and then turned them into a rainbow of terry pants and tops--perfect for absorbing the water and keeping the kids snug. But then, as is the case with so many winning innovations, it became clear that the "towel wear" had become a hot number. 

"Everyone wanted a pair of what they called Kiki's," Eleni recalls. "So we started to make what people started to refer to as 'fireworks wear.' Today, what began as a family business literally born in a garage in Sleepy Hollow, New York, is now a full line of unique apparel outfitting a Kiki's Nation of kids, teens and adults who want to make a statement as bold as all of life - every time they dress for play."

My Thoughts 

 I live at the Jersey Shore. In the summer, you can find my family on the beach any day that the sun is shining. We love hanging out along the coastline, looking for seashells and riding the waves.  The one down side to our endless summer was always the walk home in soggy bathing suits. That is one of the most uncomfortable feelings in the world. Trying to keep a towel wrapped around our waists was just a hassle. It would come undone and we have too much stuff to haul with us to hold it in place. I wish I had heard of Kiki's Gear sooner, because they have completely solved this annoying problem.

Kiki's Towel clothing are the perfect way to dry off in style. Once you're done at the beach or the pool, you can slide into one of their stylish terry cloth towels that come in a wide range of styles and colors for both boy and girls. They keep you warm if its chilly and they soak up all the excess water, making it easy and much more comfortable to make the long trek home. If you're riding in the car, the added material will also keep your seats from getting wet. I absolutely love this idea. For the first time in years, I could walk home from the beach with no whining about wet suits chafing skin.  

When you're done wearing your towel clothing, it as easy to wash as any other terry cloth towel. Just toss in in the washer. The bright colors didn't fade, even after a few washes and the seams are holding up perfectly.  If you don't fancy the pants idea, there are also some cute little skirts and even matching bags. My two younger kids love the review items we received so much, I'm planning to go back for more for my tweens. Maybe I'll even grab one for me, even though I'm not the waterbug my kids are.  These are definitely a unique item and if you live at the shore or spend  a lot of time at the pool, you'll want a few of these in your summer wardrobe.
