Our Thoughts
We've been on the look out for something that would allow us to be able to have eyes in the basement as our boys play. We've wanted something to be able to use as "surveillance" just to be able to monitor the arguments and some of the knocks and noises that come from three rowdy boys playing together, this allows us to do that! Until the Plug n View came across my desk, I didn't think that there would be anything that would do what we wanted it to be able to do. You have to understand, due to my husband being a Network Administrator at a hospital and just an all around tech geek, we have high standards and requirements for things like a monitoring camera. One of those requirements was to be able to access the camera from our iPhones and iPads even when we were away from home. Essentially we wanted something like a nanny cam.
The day the Plug n View arrived on our door step my husband set it up. He was more than giddy to see what it could do for us. It's allowed us to see what the boys are doing in the basement with a crystal clear image, allowed us to take snap shots when we've wanted to use as evidence against the kids (i.e. when they've been throwing toys at each other or not picking up when they've told us the basement is clean). One of the other cool things that we learned about the first night was the camera automatically gives you night vision when the light dims too much! So not only do you get full color during the day or when the lights are bright enough but you also have night vision to see what's going on when it's dark or the light is too dim! We're now talking about getting a second camera to have a more complete view of the basement!
My view of the boys "picking up" the first day the camera was set up. Notice two of them in the upper right corner near the wall of blocks? |
After seeing how this works, I'm even contemplating getting another kit and a few more cameras to have in the barn at my mom's house for foaling season especially considering that I can access the cameras from my iPhone or iPad. Using the Plug n View would allow my horses to foal without being disturbed by me coming in and out of the barn to check on their progress and possibly interrupting their labors!
In my opinion this is a fantastic product that I've been very happy with and would recommend highly for others who want to be able to see what's going on in their homes. You can click here to see the page for the Plug n View Home Monitoring Kit. There are also solo cameras that you can add on to give you more than one view or more coverage of the space you want to monitor!
