Timely Flu Comfort with Spoonful of Comfort

Flu season is nothing to sneeze at. With its early outbreak, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warns the 2013 flu season may be the worst in 10 years.

Spoonful of Comfort’s Flu Fighter Package is a get-well gift that gives flu sufferers something to feel good about. Delivered right to a recipient’s door (no germs exchanged!), the package includes a half-gallon of chicken noodle soup, a plush blanket, cozy socks, along with a handwritten message from the sender. It’s a great treat that also offers treatment!  Since the flu virus is not treatable with antibiotics, doctors often recommend other remedies. Hot soup can help relieve symptoms like stuffiness, congestion, and sore throat. It’s also essential in preventing dehydration, a common effect from fever. And the blanket and warm socks are sure to help the flu sufferer get plenty of cozy rest too.

Spoonful of Comfort also offers custom packages that include other get-well goodies such as tea, fresh rolls, cookies, and more.  www.spoonfulofcomfort.com

My Thoughts

I was lucky enough to receive one of the Spoonful of Comfort Care Packages to review, and it was amazing. It comes beautifully packaged in a sturdy mason jar with the soup well insulated, which it needs to be since they use only real pieces of chicken and fresh vegetables. No fake processed meats here. This is the real thing. It has lots of flavor and is a great pick me up for lunch or diner. Along with the soup, you can get freshly baked biscuits that just melt in your mouth. And for dessert, the most scrumptious oatmeal cookies that are soft and chewy, just the way I like them. The package was enough to feed my family of five with a little left over.

But there is more to Spoonful of Comfort than just a great home cooked meal. If you have a friend or family member who is under the weather, but too far away for you to make a personal visit, a care package from Spoonful of Comfort could be just what they need to lift their spirits. Not only will it cheer them up, but give them a few days of not having to worry about meals. It would also be a great idea for college kids around exam time to get them some healthy food to munch on while they are cramming. There are lots of occasions where a little comfort would be appreciated, and these homemade soups and goodies would be the perfect way to provide it.
