My HerStory
I am so excited to be one of the authors contributing to this anthology. Its not only a wonderful way to honor women in general, but it gave me the chance to tell the world about the woman who has been one of the greatest influences in my life--my grandmother. Here is a little about the story I am contributing.
In 1953, Down Syndrome was treated like a shameful secret, but Tessie refused to hide her handicapped daughter from the world. Inspired by real-life events, Tessie is the true story of one woman's battle for equality and acceptance for the daughter she knew was forth fighting for.
My grandmother's story is only one of the exciting tales included in HerStory. Read about a African American cowgirl, a female coal miner, a southern belle with a mind of her own, and many, many more. Some of these stories are based on real people, like my grandmother, and others are fictional, but they all have one common trait. They are about strong woman who made a difference and fought for what they believed in. Head over to the HerStory blog for a sneak peek and what's to come with HerStory.
