Above Suspicion DVD Review

I have always been a fan of crime television. There is something about a good murder mystery that really gets your adrenaline pumping. When the show in question also features a detective that throws up at crime scenes, its even better. With the amazing Above Suspicion on DVD, you will be getting more than 250 minutes of back to back action that will leave you at the edge of your seat. Just sit back and enjoy British drama at its best. I had never seen Above Suspicion before getting this DVD set to review, but let me tell you, once I got it I was so enthralled I watched the complete set in only a few days. Here is a little bit of info about the series.
Based on the bestselling novels by Lynda La Plante (Prime Suspect), ABOVE SUSPICION, SET 1 makes its North American DVD debut from Acorn Media on March 6, 2012. This ongoing, hit British police drama is a “younger, sassier successor to Prime Suspect” (The Telegraph). Rising star Kelly Reilly (Sherlock Holmes feature films) plays Anna Travis, a rookie detective trying to prove herself in what is still mostly a man’s world. Acclaimed actor Ciarán Hinds (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Harry Potter, There Will Be Blood) co-stars as Anna's mentor. Above Suspicion made its U.S. debut on Acorn’s streaming service, Acorn TV, earlier this year but has not aired on U.S. television. The DVD 2-disc set includes two-feature length mysteries and two behind-the-scenes segments ($39.99, www.AcornOnline.com).

On her first day on the job, rookie detective Anna Travis (Kelly Reilly) wears the wrong shoes, throws up at a crime scene, and faints at a postmortem. Does she have what it takes to succeed in what is still mostly a man’s world? Ciarán Hinds stars as Anna’s brusque boss, DCI James Langton, whose interest in his new charge quickly turns personal.

Mysteries:
Above Suspicion (Series 1, 2009, 2 parts) - For eight years, someone has been murdering women, following the same brutal ritual each time. The most recent victim doesn’t fit the profile, but evidence links her to the others. Travis volunteers to go undercover to crack the case. (114 min.)

The Red Dahlia (Series 2, 2010, 3 parts) - A young woman’s body is found by the Thames, horribly mutilated and drained of blood. It’s exactly like the famously unsolved Black Dahlia murder that happened in Los Angeles—in 1947. When Anna’s senior officer, DCI Morgan, falls ill, Langton steps in to help catch the copycat killer amid the media frenzy. (140 min.)

Above Suspicion debuted in the U.K. in January 2009 with a second series in 2010 and third series in 2011. A fourth series has been commissioned for 2012. It has not aired in the U.S.

If you want to get the advantage of a full set of amazing  stories that are loaded with murder and intrigue, than this is the box set for you. You can order Above Suspicion beginning on March 6th, for only $39.99 at Acorn Media.
