Green Ostrich Solar Powered Flashlight Review & Giveaway

The last time our electric  went out, I was lucky that I had a scented candle lit. I used the light from the candle to guide me to the fridge because that is where we keep our flash lights. There used to be three, but of course there was only one there that day. I later discovered my husband left one in the shed and my kids threw the other under their bed. I hit the  switch on  the one I had, and....nothing.  The batteries were dead, and of course no one bothered to change them. So for two hours, the only light I had were a few flickering candles. Not fun when you have a terrified toddler and a newborn screaming for a bottle.   Since then, I acquired a Green Ostrich Solar Powered Flashlight and now I know I'll never be left out in the dark again.

Green Ostrich sent me a SolaDyne Solar Flashlight to review, and I believe everyone should own at least a few of these remarkable products. It can be charged for 15 hours by leaving it in the sunlight for a full day. Or you can crank it up for one minute for one hour of light. These means you don't have to worry about having no light in an emergency. There are no batteries to die or to be replaced. This is great for the environment because it is creates less waste, but also great for your wallet because batteries are expensive. The flashlight is small enough to keep in your handbag or glove compartment, but provides an amazing amount of illumination despite its small size.  For only $17.89 a piece, they are affordable and functional accessory.

In addition to their solar powered flashlights, Green Ostrich offers a wide range of other environmentally friendly products including tote bags, jewelry, school supplies, recycled plastic ware toys, and so much more. Prices are affordable and shipping is free on all US orders over $75. So stock up today for green products for the whole family.

One lucky winner is going to receive the same solar powered flashlight that I received to review. To enter, just fill in the Rafflecopter form below. This giveaway will end on 2/21/12. The winner will be notified via email and will have 48 hours to reply. Thanks again to Adventure Hat for offering this fantastic prize.

We should support this kind of innovation. Solar power is non-polluting. Unlike oil, solar power usage does not emit any greenhouse gases, nor does the acquisition of it harm ecosystems through spills or dredging. This is probably one of the primary advantages of solar power.
