The Duchess Of Duke Street: The Complete Collection DVD Review

The Duchess Of Duke Street: The Complete Collection is a historical series at its best. It has all the qualities I look for in entertainment--romance, intrigue, and adventure. The true story of Louisa Leyton rising from the servant class to a prosperous restaurant owner is an inspiring and entertaining. The cast gives a stellar performance and wisks you away to the past with their breathtaking passion. The wardrobes and sets really make you feel like you have stepped back in time into exotic India. This is a movie that all history lovers are going to want to see for his historical accuracy as well as its tale of timeless romance. Here is a little more info about this mini series:

Based on a true story, seen on Masterpiece Theatre in the mid-1970s, this acclaimed BBC series follows a Cockney servant girl as she rises from the scullery to manage the most elegant hotel in Edwardian London. Gemma Jones stars as the indomitable Louisa Leyton; Christopher Cazenove is her dashing Charlie. A delicious tale of romance, intrigue, food, and fashion, created by John Hawkesworth (Upstairs, Downstairs). Set includes all 31 episodes. CC; approx. 27 hours on 10 DVDs.

I've never heard of this, but it looks good. It looks like something my daughter would enjoy watching with me when she comes home from college.
Thanks!
