Acorn TV streams U.S. debut of Midsomer Murders episodes and "Brilliant" Slings & Arrows




Starting today, the first U.S. streaming service primarily focused on Brit TV, Acorn TV, streams the U.S. debut of four new episodes of Acorn’s best-selling series, MIDSOMER MURDERS. Paper magazine called the series, “Phenomenally enjoyable… (it) has only gotten better and better through the years…A sumptuous feast for mystery lovers.” Also streaming is the universally acclaimed Canadian dramedy SLINGS & ARROWS. Slings was recommended in yesterday’s New York Times review of Smash, saying, “The writers would also benefit from watching a few seasons of ‘Slings & Arrows,’ a terrific backstage television series that was smart and proud of it,” and Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe recently called the series an “amazing show…amazingly funny and smart and just brilliant.”



Also streaming are full seasons of Downton Abbey precursor and iconic 1970s series UPSTAIRS, DOWNSTAIRS; PBS smash hit Agatha Christie’s POIROT; Russell T Davies’ 1920s period drama THE GRAND; Masterpiece Theatre favorite POLDARK; Derek Jacobi in CADFAEL; Richard Griffiths in PIE IN THE SKY; Caroline Quentin in BLUE MURDER; and ROSEMARY & THYME. Added today: MIDSOMER MURDERS, Set 19 (U.S. debut) – John Nettles stars as the unflappable DCI Tom Barnaby, with Jason Hughes (This Life) as his earnest, efficient protégé. Guest stars include James Wilby, Kenneth Cranham, and Neil Dudgeon in his first appearance as DCI John Barnaby. Coming to DVD and Blu-ray on Feb. 28th, these episodes were produced in 2009 and have not aired in the U.S.
