When I think about the many basic lessons I learned by listening to Sesame Street songs, I am amazed.  Who can forget learning the numbers 1-12 from that cool, colorful song/video set around a pinball machine?  Learning through entertainment is a fun, easy way for children to learn and the lessons, thankfully, last a lifetime.

So, too, in the colorful book, The Changing Colors of Amos, for children in pre-school to kindergarten.  What this crafty book teaches is the days of the week and colors.  Amos, a Leprechaun, hides on each beautifully designed page of this book.  He changes colors!  Each color change is determined by the day of the week it is, except on Sunday. Sunday colors are always chosen the night before, as Amos’ nighttime dreams become a daytime reality.  In Amos’ world, dreams do come true! 

As children travel with Amos through the pages they discover that each day of the week brings a new color and a place in the beauty of the outdoors. This cleverly written and easy to read tale is in rhyming verse and includes numerous similes and metaphors that can be used for even more discussion as the story is read. The possibilities for talking points with your child are endless. ie. “What dreams do you have?” “Where would you hide, if you could choose to be some particular color on Sunday?”  

Our Thoughts: My family loves the creatures of myth and legend. And since I have always been fascinated with the creatures of Irish folklore, of course leprechauns are right up my alley.  Amos is not the stereotypical leprechaun hoarding gold at the end of the rainbow. Instead, he changing to all the colors of the rainbow with the different days of the week. From a gray Monday that makes it hard to get ready for a new week to the magical Sunday that can be any color at all. This wonderful story is the perfect way to teach children colors and the days of the week. My toddler loved it, and even the older kids, who normally read chapter book, enjoyed the story and rhymes.

Our Thoughts 
My family have been following the Buddies since the very beginning when their dad, Air Bud was the star of the basketball court . Since then we have seen the little Buddies embark on a variety of exciting adventures, but the most exciting was still to come. In Disney's Treasure Buddies,  the little puppies come face to face with mummies and mayhem in the world of ancient Egypt.  With the the help of their new monkey friend, Pip, they set out to uncover the treasures and mysteries of the ancients.

My children and I agree that Treasure Buddies is now one of our favorites in the series so way. It is filled with magic and mystery, fun, and unusual twists and turns. I also can't resist those adorable puppies dressed up in their Egyptian accessories. That alone makes the movie worth watching a few times!

Peacable Kingdom - Seeds for the Birds Board Game Review

I love discovering new and unique board games to play with my family. A great company to find family friendly games for kids of all ages is Peaceable Kingdom Press. Their games are often educational and always fun. They recently released a new line of cooperative games that teach children the power of teamwork. One of their newest games is Seeds for the Birds, which we received to review. Right off the bat, I knew I was going to love it because the game is 100% green. The cardboard is made from recycled materials and there was no plastic wrapper. It was a winner before we even started to play!

For our review, we received the Seeds for the Birds board game, and my preschooler loved it. The birds and squirrels are characters that appeal to younger children and keep them interested. In the game, you have to turn over a card. If its a seed, you place that number of seeds in the bird feeder.  If its a bird, you gather some seeds to feed the bird. But be careful because the little squirrels are after the nuts too. If the squirrel gets more seeds than the birds, the squirrel wins the game. So the players all have to work together to make sure the birds get their full. Its a fun game that teaches math skills, and encourages team work.

AGATHA CHRISTIE’S POIROT Series 1 and 2 DVD Review

I have always been a fan of Agatha Christie. I have read many of her books, even though they would probably be considered "before my time". Most of the copies I have are yellowed with age, but a good story is timeless and Agatha Christie is a writer for all generations. But one thing I didn't know until recently is that she also had  Acorn has taken some of her characters and made them into their own television series.  Only the British could find a way to take a classic mystery novel and turn it into an equally entertaining series. And that is exactly what they've done with the Agatha Christie's Poirot. They have brought the Belgian Detective to life, right now to his classic mustache. Our Thoughts: I was lucky enough to get to try the Green Tea Clarifying Shampoo and Finishing Cream Rinse.  I have always been a fan of green tea because of its natural healing qualities, but had no idea it would make such a great shampoo. I love everything about it from the light, fresh scent to how clean and shiny my hair looks after only a few uses. I am a full blooded Italian so my hair tends to be greasy, and I usually have to take two showers if I plan to leave the house at night. But this shampoo combo really helps to reduce the natural oils. But I think what I love the most is the price. The set of shampoo and conditioner is available for  around $20. That's way less than salon prices and you are getting a great all natural product.

I am always looking for natural products for my family, especially for my baby. His sensitive skin needs special attention. The regular lotion is just as nice for all his other areas. Its smells fresh and leaves skin soft with no greasy residue.  The final product I received is the the Just for Moms Stretch Therapy. I personally do not have stretch marks, which I know is a miracle after four children, but it smells wonderful and leaves skin soft.

Luden’s Vitamin C Drops:  I have never been a big fan of citrus,  but I have to say, these taste pretty good. Each one provides you with vitamin C, but they taste like candy. So its easy to get my children to take them. I have been using them myself and I think that is the main reason why I am the only one in the house to escape the latest round of sickness.
