Cartoon Network's Firebreather DVD Review

Cartoon Network has always been one of my children's favorite stations. They love all their shows from "Billy & Mandy" to "Total Drama Island". Now, Cartoon Network is bringing us a full length film that will excite cartoon lovers and fantasy lovers everywhere. Firebreather is a movie that has it all, from edge of your seat suspense to amazing computer graphics.

In the film, Duncan Rosenblatt is a typical high school senior, except that he is half Kaiju, a race of hundred foot tall monsters who are in conflict with humans for control of the planet.  Duncan is the only one who can bring the two worlds together and make peace between them. There are exciting battles, and touching moments where he learns about his father and himself. Throughout the movie you feel the main characters conflict and he fights to stay human, but eventually learns to accept both parts of himself.  Duncan is part human, part dragon, and all hero. The whole story line is exciting and original. My kids are eight and ten, so they were the perfect age for this movie. Be careful if you have kids of a preschool age because the monsters may be a little too scary for them.

To view a clip from the film, you can visit the Cartoon network website here.

In addition to the film, the DVD includes some exiting extras like deleted scenes, 2D animation tests, animatics and visual development.  If you are interesting in purchasing this DVD for yourself, it would make an excellent East gift for kids in grade school and even tweens. It will be available in stores nationwide including Walmart and Target as well as online starting 3/22/11.
