Each time you hook one, it gets a little tighter, and flattens out your belly. There are six sets of hooks, so even if you lose or gain a little weight, you can adjust it to get just the right fit. 

Despite the close fit, it's not as constricting as I expected, and I don't have any trouble breathing or bending when I have it on.
