New fresh tropical flavors at IHOP

IHOP® RESTAURANTS CELEBRATE SUMMER WITH NEW PANCAKES IN FRESH FLAVORS THAT EVOKE A TROPICAL ISLAND FEEL
Paradise Pancakes are the Next Wave of Culinary Innovation from the Breakfast Leader and Celebrate the Inspiration Behind the Brand that Launched Almost Six Decades Ago

School is out, tropical vacations beckon, board shorts and bikinis are packed and ready to go – kick off the start of summer by digging into Paradise Pancakes at IHOP® Restaurants. Available starting June 6 and for a limited time only, Paradise Pancakes are made fresh to order in delectable flavors like Strawberry Passion Fruit, Banana Macadamia Nut, and Pineapple Upside Down.
The latest culinary creation from IHOP, Paradise Pancakes is a delicious tropical tribute to the inspiration behind the brand. In 1957, brothers Jerry and Al Lapin, along with spouses and friends, were having breakfast while on vacation on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. While there, they became enamored with the incredible taste of freshly made pancakes topped with coconut syrup and dreamed up the idea to open a restaurant that would serve innovative, quality breakfast foods all day, every day. A year later, the first IHOP restaurant opened in Toluca Lake, California and now, almost six decades later, the brand continues to offer guests the best breakfast experience.
Today, there are nearly 1,700 IHOP® Restaurants, making it easy for guests who crave the delightful Paradise Pancakes flavors to savor a stack, no matter if they are traveling across the U.S. for a summer vacation or relishing in a staycation close to home.
IHOP Paradise Pancakes embrace the founders’ passion and include:
  • Strawberry Passion Fruit – Decadent cheesecake layered between two of IHOP restaurants’ signature, made-to-order Buttermilk pancakes and topped with cool strawberries and Passion Fruit drizzle, crowned with whipped topping.
  • Banana Macadamia Nut – IHOP restaurants’ famous Buttermilk pancakes filled with fresh sliced bananas, drizzled with Butter Rum sauce and topped with toasted Macadamia nuts. Adorned on top with whipped topping.
  • Pineapple Upside Down – Sweet pineapple grilled inside our trademark Buttermilk pancakes and finished with Butter Rum sauce, a maraschino cherry and creamy whipped topping.
“Paradise Pancakes are a perfect way for families and friends to take a bite into summer via a flavor flight to an island adventure,” said Kirk Thompson, senior vice president, marketing for IHOP. “Our tastes of the tropics shine brightly as we bring the season of fun and sun into our restaurants and onto your plate!”
Guests can extend their Paradise Pancakes experience with a variety of combo options that include IHOP signature foods like made-to-order eggs, golden hash browns, hickory-smoked bacon and more, along withInternational House Roast® coffee from the brand’s Never-Empty Coffee Pot®. With the majority of IHOP Restaurants open 24 hours a day, it’s easy for friends and families to get away from it all whenever they need a tropical escape.

Paradise Pancakes will be available all day, every day at participating IHOP restaurants now through July 31, 2016.

My Thoughts

It was so hard to choose which flavor to try from the new line up at IHop but we settled on trying the Strawberry Passion Fruit. The strawberries were drizzled on top with whipped cream and in the middle was a layer of a white cream, that I believe was the passion fruit. It was sweet, yet not overdone to where I couldn't finish the pancakes. The mixture together was really good and I only needed a little but of syrup with the pancakes.

We had wanted to try the Banana Macadamian Nut as well, but unfortunately our IHop didn't have bananas. Check with your IHop before ordering. I'm not sure if they were out or just didn't have bananas. The waitress didn't say.

The pancakes came in a meal with bacon, hash browns, and eggs. It was filling and delicious. Everything was cooked good and the environment was fun. The waitress wore a Hawaiian shirt and the restaurant had been done in a tropical theme.

We enjoyed our time at IHop and always like the fun creations they come up with that bring us back often to try them. The new tropical paradise line-up is a winner for sure with its fun and unique flavoring.

My Thoughts
My kids were beyond excited to try the new bakery creations at iHop. They'd both seen the cupcake pancake on a TV commercial and could not wait until it was their turn to have one. So of course, they each ordered it when we went. You were able to get a meal along with the pancakes or get them on their own.
They were very sweet pancakes and neither of my kids needed or wanted to add syrup. There are sprinkles and chocolate baked into the pancake itself. Then topped with whipped cream and a type of frosting drizzled on the top. Almost like it was warm when added, giving it that warm, gooey, yumminess. Very sweet, but they loved it. I took a few bites of the pancakes and enjoyed it, but was glad I hadn't gotten them for myself. Not that they weren't good, but there was a whole lot of sweetness and I would have needed a to-go container to enjoy my pancakes later. Though, having bacon and sausage helps your taste buds. It's a good treat for a special night with family.
We were very pleased with the pancakes and our experience at iHop. We enjoy the specials that iHop provides because it gives us something new to try each time we go in, as well, something to look forward to when they bring it back. I am hoping to make it back before these specials got away and try the red velvet crepes. They looked very tasty too.

My Thoughts
Who doesn't love a big stack of pancakes? We enjoy when IHop has all you can eat pancakes. This last time we went, my son and husband decided to see who could eat the most pancakes. They each tied with 5 pancakes, but the hubby takes the win because he also enjoyed a combo with his of bacon, sausage, eggs, and hashbrowns.

The pancakes were as delicious as expected. A nice fluffyness to them, with warmed butter and syrup. Our service was great that evening. But most of all, I enjoyed the family time with ever disconnected and having some delicious pancakes.

If you've never had All You Can Eat Pancakes before, give it a try. You have the option of just getting the pancakes or adding a combo on of other food. My son started out with a plate of 5 as he opted for just the pancakes. My husband started with a plate of 3 then added another plate after.

Here are my pancakes that before I enjoyed every bite of them.

They also have a pumpkin spices coffee. Not my coffee in the photo.

My Thoughts

This time of the year, we all love pumpkin spice flavored items. I know I am a big fan of the flavored coffee, and when given the change to try IHop's pancakes, I was excited.

I got the combo when I ordered the pancakes and it came with 2 pumpkin spiced pancakes, eggs, bacon or sausage, and hash browns for a very reasonable price. On top of the pancakes was a whipped cream and sprinkled with cinnamon. At first bite, it was good. I tried it without syrup and then with syrup. The middle was my favorite part because I got the whipped cream with cinnamon that added to the flavor.

In the past, sometimes the entrees get too sweet by the end, but that wasn't the case with these. I was able to finish it all and didn't feel like I'd really overdone it with sugar.

Give yourself a treat and try the pumpkin spiced pancakes.

My Thoughts

My family loved IHop! Its a frequent place we eat, especially when kids get to eat free on weeknights in our area. We were very excited to get to try the new pancakes for the summer.

The new pancakes are:

Blueberry Lemonade

Banana Pudding

Blackberry Peach Cobbler

We tried Blueberry Lemonade and Banana Pudding.

The blueberry lemonade was very tasty. The pancakes have blueberries in them as well and a thick lemon creme on the top. I really liked this combo put together, but I will admit, when I got near the end of eating my pancakes, I pushed the lemon creme off, as I had gotten tired of the rich flavor. But as you can see in my photo, the cook who prepared mine put a lot of lemon creme on. The next time I would request them to go a little lighter when adding it.

We also got the banana pudding pancakes.

This one was really good. My daughter got this for herself, but I stole more then a few bites for review purposes, of course. I think I liked these the best, and the waitress even said this item has been very popular. While it was sweet, it wasn't overly done where I would feel a sugar high after finishing it. There is a light banana creme under the bananas and vanilla wafers.

And the last type of pancake is the blackberry peach cobbler. We didn't try this one, but here is a photo of what it looks like.

We enjoyed our dinner at IHop and I wanted to mention since we dine there a lot, that we did notice a new menu, with several new items on it. As well as a spruced up kids menu. If you're in the mood for some pancakes, give one of these summer stacks a try before they are gone.
