My Thoughts

This thing is a definite must for many different situation. It is perfect for tiny houses, rvs, dorm rooms, boats, etc. It is an amazing tool for regular homes as well, but it can be a real space saver when it is needed. Not that I use both systems, but having US and metric systems on this is a smart tool. The thing that I do use, or like, is that I can just throw it in the dishwasher. I am one of those types of people that won't buy a piece of clothing that says dry cleaning only or hand wash. I am just not that type of person. I am kind of the same way about dishes. Hand wash only is not something that comes into my home often. And you can put it in the microwave which is great too.

The company is charitable as well. They donate a meal to starving children for each cube sold. So I decided to make my lemon bars with this. It has a lot of measurements and I usually make a big mess. This thing was great. I had to measure out little, big, liquid and dry ingredients. It was so much faster. I even used it to melt the butter that I needed. I didn't necessarily need it measure but I also did not have to pull out another bowl to melt the butter. When I was done I just threw it in the sink to be run through the dishwasher when I finally got around to doing them. Very useful little tool. Super space and dish saver.

The items I got to try:

My Thoughts

I was impressed with all three of these products. They each worked really well. I recognized the name T-fal before getting these items to review, but I hadn't tried the brand yet. That will change. This will be a brand I look for when I need/want a new gadget in the kitchen.

The first item I tried was the mandolin. I have one already but I never use because it's a pain. I have to hold it over a cutting board then start chopping and it makes a mess. This mandolin from T-fal isn't like that. As you slice your vegetables, it goes into a provided container. No mess! Thank you, T-fal! I found it easy to use. The blades were sharp, but my hand stayed safe so I didn't worry about it getting sliced. This came with several blades to use for different types of cuts. It even had a grader for cheese. I really liked how long the grader was. It let me chop more cheese faster.

Next I tried the chopper. I've seen one of these at an at home kitchen gadget party. Always thought it was neat, but never bought because I wasn't sure I'd actually use it. This made chopping a breeze. You load in potatoes or whatever you're wanting to chop. Then pull the lever several times until it's at the size desired. Now you can't put a lot in. It's isn't large. I usually could do half a potato at a time. So it was a little more time consuming, in my opinion. But if your hands are sore from a long day of work, this makes chopping easier. As well, it's a task you can pass off to an older kid. You can use it for more than chopping vegetables. You can also make salsa and other things like that in it.

And finally, I tried the apple corer/slicer. This worked really well too. It was easier to use than the one I bought at the dollar store years ago. The blades went through without issue. I didn't have to stop in the middle and give it a hard smack to get it to finish. I liked that it came with a piece to set your apple on and when your blade finished going through, it hit that piece instead of your counter. It was a great added feature that T-fal gave us.

I liked all three of these a lot and was impressed with the brand. If you're in the market for some new products to make you feel like a top chef, give T-fal a try.

My Thoughts

I've never used an ice tea maker before until I tried this one from Capresso. I am a southern woman, so iced tea is a favorite drink of mine, especially if it's sweet. I was excited to give this a try and see how well it make classic iced tea.

There are two way to brew. On the glass pitcher is a line to fill for ice or a line to fill with cold water. I tested this with both. The first time I used it, I used the ice method. It used a lot of ice, so be sure you have a good amount on hand. I then filled the back water compartment, put in my tea bags and brewed. I didn't add my sugar before it brewed because I wasn't sure if I could put sugar on the ice. So after it was made, I added the sugar, but had a hard time dissolving it because it was very cold from the ice, but still good because it's made and ready to drink. No time needed for the liquid to cool.

Once we finished that batch, I decided to try making it the other way, with cold water. This time I added my sugar to the cold water and set up the tea maker the same as before, minus ice. After it brewed, I stirred the liquid so the sugar was absorbed. This worked well and would probably be the method I would use if I was just brewing tea with the intent of putting into my fridge for later. The liquid is still very warm since ice wasn't used, so if you're going to drink it right away, you'll need ice in your cup.

My only complaint with this product was when pouring it. We usually had to pour over the sink because it often leaked down the side of the pitcher that was provided for some reason. Aside from that, I was pleased with this product and will continue to use it to make tea. I found it quick and easy to make it without having to watch a clock and remove my tea bags before they sat in water for too long brewing.

I would like to add that a recipe book came with the system with lots of different ideas on drinks to brew. Some were not teas, such as iced coffees. Lots of things to be done with this machine.

Our Thoughts

I love coffee in any way, shape or form that it is made. I have never made the espresso version before though so wanted to see how well it'd taste. It's amazing. Using this espresso maker is so simple, it's not a long process like I thought espresso was. Very easy to use and clean, and the coffee is so much stronger than a normal-brew, I haven't used my coffee pot in over a week now!

I rinsed the espresso maker and did a wet run of just water to clean it, then I filled the bottom chamber to the bolt there at the bottom. Place the funnel insert and add your grinds (they will expand as shown above so don't fill it to the very top). Screw the top partition on and I placed it on my propane stove. Everything gets hot on my stove so I was skeptical that this handle was heat-resistant. It totally is, I grab it immediately as soon as it's done with no issues at all, it's not even a little warm. Let it rest for a second and then pour into your cup! This makes one serving (for me at least), and fills my coffee up. The taste is much stronger and delicious. I tap the grinds out in my compost bin, rinse and repeat the next day!

It's design is very sleek and sits nicely on my counter top. Takes up much less room and looks better than the traditional coffee pot!

Another product they have is the Biana Espresso Cup that pairs perfectly with this!
