My Thoughts

This book is really cute. It's a board book so it's short and sweet, making it perfect for younger children with a short attention span. The thick cardboard is also a lot harder to rip. The story resolves around three little owls. They wake up at night and find their mother isn't there. They worry about her and miss her, and of course in the end she comes back to them.  There isn't much action, and it gets a little repetitive, but what it lacks in storyline it makes up for in illustrations. The images of the baby owls are really beautiful and my children enjoy flipping through the book simply to look at them.

My Thoughts

My son just loves bears so he really enjoyed this book. He's only three, so he can't sit through a long story, but this one is just the right length for toddlers. It talks about all tee things the bear wants to be when he grows up in cute little rhymes. The pictures of the bears are really adorable too. This is such a great book that can really help younger kids get into reading.

My Thoughts:

Hop! Hop! was an adorable book that goes over the fun things kids get do at Easter. Such as coloring eggs! While coloring the eggs, children will learn things such as red and yellow make orange.

The little boy in the book does arts and crafts after he dyes Easter eggs, followed by eating jelly beans and going on an Easter Egg hunt.

Kids will enjoy this book because they get to read about the things they are already doing, as well as some learning along the way. My daughter enjoyed the book. The illustrations are bright and eye catching, and sure to keep your child looking all over the pages as they follow along with the story.

My Thoughts:

Count with Maisy, Cheep, Cheep, Cheep! was an adorable book. In this book, we are helping the mama hen find her chicks before bed, and she has 10 of them to find. They are hidden in quite some funny places all around the farm.

A child will want to read this one multiple times and find the chicks under the hidden flaps. My daughter loved the interactiveness of this book, and she had fun counting the chicks along the way. We also were able to do some math as we had to figure out how many chicks were left to find.

He spends his time admiring his collections of rocks, sticks and buttons, and sleeps on top of his suitcase at night. He didn't think anything was missing. Then one day, he wakes up with a mouse beside him. He shows the mouse his treasures and they have fun playing together. When its time for the mouse to leave, the dog realizes that he didn't have everything he needed after all. He needed a friend and now he had one.

My children just loved this story. The illustrations are beautiful and it was written in a way that was easy for children to relate to. I love the underlying message that people are always more important than material things. This is a great book for preschool kids.

My Thoughts

This book is great for toddlers. It's short and sweet and filled with beautiful illustrations, so it's sure to hold their attention.  In the story, the mama koala tells her little bear how much she loves each part of him and all the little things he does. It's a great book to read right before bed because it ensures lots of snuggles.

In addition to showing kids how to play the game using teamwork, it also talks about the importance of hydrating refreshments and warm ups. The story wraps up with the game ending in a tie, showing kids that having fun is more important than winning.

My Thoughts

 This book is a great choice for little sports enthusiasts. A group of boys in South Africa are playing soccer (football) with a ball they won in school for being great readers. At first, it's all fun and games, but then the bullies show up and try to steal their ball. Using their heads, the boys trick the bullies so they don't see the shiny new soccer ball. 

This book talks a lot about soccer moves and having fun with friends, but it also teaches some important lessons. The most obvious is how to deal with bullies, but it also teaches kids that they should appreciate what they have. So many kids are used to instant gratification, and they don't always appreciate a gift like a simple ball. These boys cherished their new toy and guarded it from the bullies. A fun book with a good moral is always a must read!

Our Thoughts
I really liked the Flight of the Honey Bee.  It's written in a way that kids can easily understand: a story about Scout the Bee, and informative so that it's educational without being schoolbook-ish.  The illustrations are eye-catching and beautifully done.  It takes the reader through Scout finding flowers, avoiding being killed, delivering the pollen & nectar, telling her story to her sister bees, and ends with a visit to the bee nursery. 

Delightful story; highly recommended, and not just for the bug enthusiast child!
