Pump anytime, anywhere, and around anyone with Freemie

For the last couple of years, breast-feeding rates have increased in the United States and there has been a growing debate about breastfeeding/breast pumping in public.

Today, innovative brand Freemie® solves this “pumping conversation” by allowing women to pump anywhere and everywhere.  Freemie® is a revolutionary collection system that is hands-free and concealable way to pump and collect breast milk. It is a safe, convenient and affordable solution to ease women into motherhood, while maintaining their daily lifestyle.

Inspired by a mom-entrepreneur, Dr. Stella Dao who was inspired to invent the Freemie® system after returning to work from the birth of her preemie twins. She was juggling work and breastfeeding and quickly came up with the idea to collect breast milk with your shirt on, and hands-free.

Each Freemie Collection Cup has a funnel and valve integrated into the cup assembly, so it feels and works just like regular breast pump equipment when placed over your breasts. But instead of milk falling down and hanging in bottles below the funnels, it collects in cups that surround the funnels.
Now you can pump breast milk anywhere – at work, riding a bike, and while brunching with your BFFs.

Freemie® Collection Cups currently sold at WalMart and Target, and can also be found online at http://www.freemie.com.

My Thoughts

There are many wonderful things about these cups, but one of my favorite is how portable these can be. Many working moms pump at work, in their cars, or at friends houses. These collection cups make it really simple to do these things. They advertise that you can do things like ride your bike and brunch with friends. I have not tried those things, but I have been able to pump around family, something I cannot do with normal pump parts.

I am not necessarily getting 8oz with every pump, but that is what they say the pump well can hold. It does make breasts significantly larger in my opinion. It is great to have the second set of pump parts as well. They stay in place very well, and are quick to set up and to get to pumping. I am not back at work yet, but when I do that will be nice to be able to set them up fast so I can enjoy my lunch hour. Probably my ultimate favorite part is that I do not have to use the hands free bra anymore. I love that it fits inside my personal bra. Having to get set up for pumping every time is so time consuming. It makes it daunting. It is great to just slip these into my own bra. Definitely a must for the on the go mother or working mother.

Mommy's Watches: Don't Cry Over "Spoilt" Milk Again

I wanted to introduce you to Mommy’s Watches; an AMAZING device that will make the life of nursing parents a whole lot easier.  Let’s face it breastfeeding is hard, I know first-hand I’ve nursed two babies. From the pain, time, loss of sleep and pumping; it’s a true selfless act of love.  For many moms it’s a hard-fought road to get there and once they do the last thing they want is for that “liquid gold” to spoil. With Mommy’s Watches moms can now be at ease.  More information is below.
Don’t Spoil the Milk!

Ensure the Freshness of Breast Milk with Mommy’s Watches

No more labeling milk bottles, pouring out milk or fearing you are giving your bundle of joy spoiled milk! Mommy's Watches completely eliminates the guesswork of breast milk by giving mom and dad an extra set of eyes. Mommy’s Watches is a unique, easy-to-use device that helps alleviate the stresses of breastfeeding by monitoring temperature and the expiration time of breast milk.
Invented by, Oxana Pantchenko, a mom with a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, Mommy’s Watches is essentially a watch that is both a timer and a thermometer. Simply slide the watch onto a milk bottle and a red and green indicator on the face of the watch will show you the milk's freshness based on its storage temperature and time.
Mommy’s Watches is...
  • Reusable
  • Band is made out of food grade silicone
  • Great to monitor milk stored in refrigerator or freezer
  • Able to fit most breastfeeding bottles and bag
  • Non Microwaveable
  • Not Dishwasher Safe
  • U.S. Patented Technology
  • International Patent Pending
  • One of a kind product
  • Available Single pack $12.99
  • Double pack $23.99

Between changing diapers, sleepless nights, and around the clock feeding, Mommy’s Watches makes life a little easier for moms, dads, and caretakers.

My Thoughts

These watches were incredibly useful for my first couple of weeks of my infant's life. I had a rough delivery, and my milk production did not come in the way it was supposed to. It took a long time to come in and I was not producing enough. So I was in the process of working to get it back while trying to supplement with formula, all while dealing with my first time being a mom. Needless to say my head was not always completely screwed on correctly. It is incredibly hard to try and remember everything that is in the fridge and when you put it in there.
I like that they are like bracelet bands, so it is easy to fit them around most bottles, and milk pouches. I use playtex bottles and kindie milk pouches, and it worked great for both. They are also easy to use. You just put it in on the bottle, reset it and you are good. You can press the button to check on it. It also changes the way it should countdown based on the temperature. If the milk is room temperature it counts down faster than if it is refrigerated. You can't microwave it or put it in the dishwasher, but that makes sense with the technology in the watch. That didn't bother me. This really is a handy tool for busy moms with a lot of new things to worry about.

Momsense, The Smart Breastfeeding Meter - #Giveaway

Breastfeeding is a beautiful experience. It's a wonderful way to bond with your baby, and the most natural way to feed them.  Once you get the hang of it, there's nothing to it. However, when I was a young mother with my first child, I also learned it can be frustrating and painful, especially the first few weeks. I also had serious issues with my milk development. With all four of my children, I only managed to breastfeed for the first three or four months. Studies have shown that 50% of new mothers stop breastfeeding early for the same reason. Stopping early means that your baby is losing a lot of potential health benefits.  I didn't have any help back then when I was learning the ropes of breastfeeding. Thankfully, today there is Momsense, the Smart Breastfeeding meter that will help guide new mothers through this important stage of  their child's life.

Momsense is a wearable device and mobile application that offers a variety of user friendly features that will help make breastfeeding easier. Momsense measures and tracks a baby’s breast milk volume intake. The patented technology is embedded into a  sensor. You can  place the sensor underneath the baby’s earlobe during nursing. You connect the device to a smart phone application to track and report how much breast-milk the baby is consuming during each feeding. After each nursing session, you will receive a detailed report that shows you how long the feeding lasted, and the quantities of milk your baby consumed from each breast. I know one of my biggest concerns was worrying that I wasn't producing enough milk to satisfy my child.  This gives you the peace of mind of knowing whether your baby received enough milk during each feeding.

The Momsense Breastfeeding Meter has three components: the Momsense app, earphones and a microphone embedded baby safe sensor. It not only tracks baby’s breast milk intake, but also allows mothers to listen to the sound of their baby’s nursing swallow.  In addition to providing important information that can help keep your milk supply flowing, Momsense has lots of other fun perks as well.  You can snap photos and monitor their weight as well as their feeding habits. You can even create photo albums that will make a great keepsake as your baby grows. Momsense is the modern way to track you baby's development.

If you wan to try out Momsense for yourself, it is now available for purchase through the company’s online shop, as well as on Target.com and BabiesRUs.com.

Book Review: Milked, A Modern Mommy Tale with a Retro Twist by Lisa Doyle

By and large, Amanda Keane makes pretty good decisions. Okay, she might not have the best taste in men, but she’s got great friends, a good job, and an independent spirit. That is, until her 30th birthday ushers in a whirlwind romance with a sexy Irish musician who leaves her, not at the altar as she imagined, but accidentally pregnant. And when he disappears, she’s downsized out of a job, her apartment is robbed, and lapsed health insurance coverage leaves her with a C-section to pay for, Amanda is launched headfirst into the life of a broke single mom. But her friend and uber successful ob-gyn, Joy, clues her in to an unlikely temp position with one of Chicago’s celebrity elite that just may be the answer to all her woes. Or could it be just the beginning?

It’s with serious trepidation that Amanda embarks on her surprisingly lucrative new career: underground wet nurse to the offspring of Chi-town’s rich and famous. Amanda must quickly understand how to live at the whims and mercy of the one percent as she deals with the irony of nursing – and loving – someone else’s child, while still making ends meet for her own daughter. And then there’s Cute Daycare Dad (aka Dan), who’s obviously interested in her. But can she afford to tell him what she really does for a living? Is her new job (something she thought went out with the 19th century) a shameful thing? Just another way of selling her body? Or does it have something to teach her after all?

A novel of motherhood, its many demands, and all the little triumphs along the way, MILKED is a warm and witty debut about making tough choices and traveling the roundabout road to happiness.

Our Thoughts

MILKED is about Amanda, whose boyfriend knocks her up and whose life knocks her on her ass.  When Eamonn disappears, Amanda is left to deal with everything on her own and thru a twist of fate, ends up working for celebrities as a wetnurse.

This really, is what piqued my interest most about this novel: wetnursing.  It's made a bit of a comeback in some communities.  But Milked is also about breastfeeding and pumping to keep up supply, and taking care of babies.  I didn't get much of a chance to nurse my own son (long story with the NICU nurses) but I did exclusively pump for well over 2 years for him.  I also donated a lot of milk.  There was much I could relate to with Amanda.

The book sucked me in quicker than I thought - it was actually hard to put down!  The stories about Amanda's personal life with CuteDad as well as some of the crazy stuff she put up with from her celebrity employers is very entertaining.  Then, near the end . . . she runs into the missing father. . . and for a few minutes you really don't know which way Amanda's going to go.  Stick with CuteDad or bring her family together?

Another thing I really enjoyed about this book - no Mommy Wars.  There is only one scene where Amanda gets huffy about her point of view, but realizes she's just put a very big foot in her mouth.

MILKED is a good, very enjoyable, quick read - great for any mom!

Milkies Softies Nursing Pads Review

The super soft, absorbent, and reusable nursing pad - 3 pairs per box!

Milkies Softies Nursing Pads have a unique 3-layer design that guards against leaks without adding bulk or puffiness to your bra. A plush 100% bamboo layer rests lightly against your skin, and wicks moisture away quickly. The inner microfiber layer is ultra-absorbent and the outer layer is microbe and leak resistant. Designed by nursing moms for nursing moms, Softies keep breastfeeding moms dry and comfortable.

Our Thoughts

I am so sick and tired of buying papery products that I have to throw away but I am one of those nursing mothers that has to wear nursing pads throughout my entire nursing relationship with my child. My son just turned six months old and I still have to wear nursing pads all day, and all night long.

One thing I really dislike about disposable nursing pads is that the papery ends poke at my skin and make my skin itch. Not a fan of that. The Milkies Softies live up to their name. They really are incredibly soft. You know right away which side is to be against your skin and which side isn't.

You can't see these big bulky things through your shirt either, which is really embarrassing for many moms. They are large enough for even the most engorged lady that has a lot of milk issues so this size (and strength) is good whether you have a newborn or you're nursing a one year old and your supply has settled down.

I mainly have to worry about using mine at night while sleeping, and with laying down, all moms know we "shift" a little bit, but that's not a problem with these because of how thick/large they are (but again, not too much that it's really noticeable through your shirt). Each pack comes with three so while one is in the washer, one is being worn, you have one for backup too!

I just throw mine in with the regular wash with my clothes and I haven't had any problems with keeping them clean and the detergent doesn't bother my skin from it either. I am loving these Milkies Softies! They have many products for new moms like Nursing Tea, Nipple Nurture Balm, and Milk Savers!

Buy yours here and don't forget to check them out on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest!

Belli Skincare & CapriClear - Beauty for Pregnancy, Breastfeeding & Beyond

From Belli Skincare (www.belliskincare.com), four pristinely pure products whose ingredients have been safety screened for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, making them perfect for anyone concerned with what they put on their skin  (They’re also free of artificial fragrances and dyes, phthalates and paraben preservatives.) The Belli Skincare products mentioned are:

Eye Brightening Cream -- A Vitamin K enriched eye cream that revives and illuminates tired eyes, and minimizes the appearance of fine lines.

My Thoughts

The Eye Brightening cream gives special attention to the delicate area around your eyes. I am pushing forty, but don't have many wrinkles yet. The area around my eyes has always been my biggest concern. This cream works like a charm. Just a tiny bit under your eyes works like an eraser. It's as though fine lines completely vanish. In addition, it also works wonders for tired eyes. If you didn't get a good night's sleep and have telltale bags, this cream will wipe them away instantly. You can feel it go to work, tightening up the skin. The formula is not greasy and leaves your skin looking healthy and natural.

Pure & Pampered Body WashA pure and balanced cleanser for the entire body that leaves skin hydrated and silky, never tight or dry.

My Thoughts

Lavender is one of my favorite essential oils because of its healing and relaxing qualities, so I love finding new products that utilize it. The aroma is a great way to unwind at the end of  a long day and the light scent clings to your skin long after you've turned off the shower. It comes in a nice squeeze bottle for easy access and a little bit goes a long way. The addition of the chamomile and cucumber leaves your skin soft and smooth to the touch.

All Day Moisture LotionAfter the shower, treat skin to this luxurious, deeply moisturizing cream featuring uplifting lemon oil and soothing chamomile.

My Thoughts

You can't go wrong with this lotion. It goes on evenly and leaves her skin feeling rose-petal soft.  The cream is gentle enough to use even on sensitive skin.  The lotion goes on smooth, rubs in easily, and has no greasy residue. It comes in a nice squeeze bottle for easy access. The chamomile and lemon scent is light and refreshing. It's also cruelty free which is very important to me and my family.

Healthy Glow Facial Hydrator -- A daily moisturizer rich in botanical humectants and antioxidants.

My Thoughts

This moisturizer is the perfect way to keep your skin healthy and wrinkle free.  The cream goes on smoothly and does not leave behind any greasy or sticky residues. Even after only a few weeks of use, I could see a difference in my skin. Fine lines seemed to have diminished almost overnight and it evened out my skin-tone. My skin just looks healthier and more vibrant. It leaves your skin feeling firm and taunt, but still moisturized and soft.  The 1.5 oz bottle is a generous portion that should last for a few months easily.

CapriClear Spray On Moisturizer - Travel Size - (www.CapriClear.com) - A spray-on veil of 100% fractionated coconut oil, one of the gentlest and most effective moisturizing ingredients available.   Conceived by a dermatologist, it can even be safely used on the most sensitive of skin.
My Thoughts

CapriClear comes in a spray bottle that provides quick application and even coverage all over your body, much like the spray on sunblocks we use in the summer months. Only this smells much better and soaks right into your skin, without leaving behind any heavy residues.  It rubs in instantly and gives your skin a little boost of hydration. I love the coconut scent and the travel size is easy to take with you when you're on the go. It also works wonders on stretchmarks and scars.

The Belli Skincare line was originally designed for pregnant woman, but even those who aren't in the family way can see the benefits of this all-natural line. They are also cruelty free which is always a big plus in my book. Be sure to check all the great all-natural products on the Belli Skin Care website and connect with them via their social media.  You can also find their full line on Amazon.
