 My Thoughts

 Scooby-Doo! and Guess Who is a fun addition to the franchise. In this new series, Scooby and the gang are facing a whole new set of creepy monsters. In each episode they'll continue the tradition of running into a celebrity guest. They find themselves wrapped up in a whole new mysteries and team up with sports stars, superheroes and pop stars. Oh my gosh! This DVD brought my childhood back to the forefront. Scooby-Doo was my favorite shows when I was a kid. I can see myself sitting in the kitchen with the wood paneling, watching the old shows all summer long. I'm so excited to have the chance to share the new series with my own children. My Thoughts

I was in grade school when the Simpsons first premiered.  It's hard to believe we're already up to nineteen seasons. It's so weird how I started out the same age as Bart and Lisa and now I'm more in line with Marge.  But all that aside, this is a show that is as timeless as it is fun. Every season there are new spoofs that make us all laugh. They make fun of everyone and everything equally so there's no reason for anyone to get offended. My Thoughts

This amazing novel is an adaption of a best-selling novel. Set in Harlem, in the 1970s, we follow the budding romance of Tish and Fonny. They are engaged and ready to step into their happily ever after. Everything is going well until Fonny is arrested for a crime Tish knows he would never commit. Refusing to give us on their dreams, Tish fights for her fiance and proves that love is the strongest force of all.

I really enjoyed this movie. It was a great combination of drama, romance, and intrigue. I was also impressed with the realistic costumes that make me feel like I stepped back into the disco era. The actors all did an amazing job. Their performances were emotional and real. I would recommend this film to anyone who who enjoys a good drama or romance. Fall head over paws in love with DOG DAYS

My Thoughts

Dog Days is a film that follows multiple dog lovers throughout their daily routines. There's a barista with a Chihuahua, a musician pup-sitting a Labradoodle,  and a widower with a Pug. All of the humans are facing different challenges in their business and personal lives, and the all of them learn how much a dog can help to make even the most difficult of times a little better. There is romance, inspiration, and lots of laughs all rolled into one dog-gone good movie.

This was a really cute movie. It was simple and sweet, and enjoyable even if it was a little predictable. Fans of romance and dog lovers alike will enjoy this flick.  There's also a great cast of stars in the film including Vanessa Hudgens, Nina Dobrev, and Eva Longoria. My Thoughts

The Darkest Minds is a movie about teens that begin to develop super powers. Most of their generation died during a strange illness, and they are the only survivors. The government sees them as a threat and intends to get control of them, but these kids are ready to fight back. Ruby is one of the most powerful kids, but she's able to disguise her abilities to appear less threatening. She eventually escapes and joins s group of rebels who establish a safe place for the teens to hide and come up with a survival plan.

This was a really great movie. I enjoyed it even though I'm not a teen. The characters are realistic and so are their problems. People always envy and fear that they don't have. There is plenty of action with great special effects, but also a touching love story between Ruby and Liam. The ending leaves the door open for a sequel. It's a great film the whole family can enjoy together.

The Americans : The Complete Final Season on DVD

It is 1987, and an imminent Gorbachev-Reagan nuclear arms summit promises to ease world tensions. But life for the Jennings family is more precarious than ever: Elizabeth's relentless dedication as a KGB agent has dealt a potentially lethal blow to her marriage to Philip, who has left espionage behind. As Philip's friendship with FBI agent Stan Beeman grows, the danger of exposure of the family 'business,' which now includes Paige, reaches crisis level.

My Thoughts

The Americans is an exciting series centered around spies and espionage during the Cold War. This final season finds Elizabeth still deeply engrossed in the KGB, but her husband wants to leave the world of spies and danger behind. Phillip also begins to get closer to his FBI agent friend Stan, which could lead to trouble in his marriage and other areas as well. Paige also gets more engrossed in the family business which means there's an even greater risk.

I have really enjoyed this series. Every season, it delves deeper into the plots and uses real world events as inspiration. The characters are all well-developed. I especially love seeing Keri Russell in a role with so much depth. She is one of my favorite actresses. I'm sad that the series is coming to an end, but without giving away any spoilers, the finale did leave me feeling satisfied. Everyone has a family. And every family has a story. My Thoughts

Season 2 of This Is Us brought us some amazing family moments to share with the Pearson family. It skips around and you see different characters at different times in their lives. Some scenes take place in the 80s or even earlier, while others are set in modern times. One of my favorite episodes this season was The 20s, where we got to see Kevin, Kate and Randall in their younger years. Though there are a lot of heavy episodes, some, like Vegas Baby, are a little on the lighter side. Some other highlights of the season included weddings, anniversaries, and a bout of chicken pox.We also meet a new character called Deja. She is a young girl whose mother is arrested, and Beth and Randall take her in a a foster child. There were tons of tissue-worthy moments too, but I don't want to give away any spoilers. Overall, this season was filled with lost of of amazing moments I'll never forget.

This is such an amazing show. I love the chemistry between the characters, and the unique twist of skipping around through time. In every episode, there are moments I want to laugh and moments that I want to cry. This is a show you watch with your tissues ready.  I also love how it breaks down racial barriers. This is a show that teaches us that its not always blood that makes family, and that families come in many different shades. My Thoughts 


The Miracle Season is a story inspired by actual events. It centers around a high school volleyball team dealing with a terrible loss. Their star player, Caroline, is killed in a terrible accident. At first the team wants to give up, but their coach and Caroline's father played by William Hurt, push the girls to keep fighting because they know that is what Caroline would have wanted. The girls work to overcome their grief and get to the volleyball championships to honor the friend they lost.

This movie is both heart-breaking and inspiring. It shows how a community can really come together after a tragedy. You will laugh, cry, and cheer when you watch it. The most exhilarating part about this movie is that it is inspired by actual events. This alone makes it a great movie for family movie night. SUPER TROOPERS 2

My Thoughts

In Super Troopers 2, a border dispute causes trouble between the US and Canada. The troopers are ready to take on the crowd, and fight for their border. There really isn't much more to the story line than that. This movie is about the jokes, and the plot is only there to find a placement for those jokes. This film will never win an Oscar, but it will make you laugh.


This was a great sequel that definitely lived up to the original. There's tons of slapstick humor, and jokes that will have your sides aching. It's a great celebrity cast including Rob Lowe and Brian Cox, and while it's predictable, it's still a fun movie to watch. Just try not to take it too seriously. RED SPARROW

My Thoughts

Red Sparrow is an exciting spy thriller. It centers around a women named Dominika. She used to be a ballerina,but then she's forced to enter the Sparrow School where she's trained to be spy. Though she's trained to be lethal, she hates the world she finds herself trapped in. You'll follow her through her training and into the world of dangerous spies where there is danger around every corner, and a shocking ending that will leave you wanting more.

This is a great thriller, with action and psychological aspects as well. There is a lot of violence and some nudity, but it's realistic and gritty, and only done when its needed for the story line. Jennifer Lawrence is great, but the supporting cast adds lots of color as well.  The movie does end in a bit of a cliffhanger, leaving you wondering what side Dominika is really on. My Thoughts

The Death Cure is the final installment of the Maze Runner series. Thomas and his friends have escaped and are ready to set out on their final mission. They will need all the skills they developed running through the mazes as they try to navigate this new labyrinth. They sneak into the Last City, where they know they will be able to find out the truth once and for all. It's hard to say too much more without giving away spoilers, but the movie wraps up nicely, with all the questions answered. You won't be left hanging this time around.

I feel like I've been waiting forever for this next installment in the Maze Runner series, but it was definitely worth the wait. This movie was packed with action, and stays reasonably true to the books. The Blu-ray edition also comes with lots of great bonuses including online stickers and a comic book.  You'll also get deleted scenes and special commentary. My whole family enjoyed sitting back to watch this one, and we're sorry to see that the series is coming to end.

My Thoughts

This was an amazing film from start to finish. Ben and Alex are both in a hurry to get home, but their plane has been grounded due to a storm. Alex decides to rent a private plane, and she invites Ben to join her after overhearing his dilemma.  Things go well at take off, but just as they are crossing some mountains, the pilot has a stroke. Soon their plane goes down, but luckily, Alex, Ben, and the pilot's dog survive with only minor injuries. But they are stuck at the top of a mountain in freezing weather, and no one knows where they are. After waiting a few days, they give up hope of being found, and set out to find their own way back to civilization.  Along the way, they battle wildlife, struggle to find food, and try to stay warm as they travel across the treacherous terrain. 

I thought this was a great movie. I found myself gasping and biting my nails a few times. Kate and  Idris were both amazing, and I hope they get nominated for an award. The wonderful lab was a great addition to the film, and you find yourself rooting for him as much as the humans. I've read a few reviews that claimed some of the scenes were unrealistic. I'm  no outdoors-man, so I can't attest to that one way or another, but I know the whole film was entertaining. I don't mind extending belief to the sake of entertainment. That's what movies are for! This one has action, drama, and even has a little romance.  I think this was a five-star film for both acting and special effects, and I plan on watching it again very soon!
