Check out the Phantom Audio Book & Get the eBook Free!

The Phantom was a musical phenomenon that Rebecca had always found enchanting. She had no idea that her life was about to mirror the play that was her obsession. When her high school drama club chooses "Phantom" as their annual production, Rebecca finds herself in the middle of an unlikely love triangle and the target of a sadistic stalker who uses the lines from the play as their calling card. Rebecca lands the lead role of Christine, the opera diva, and like her character, she is torn between her two co-stars-Tom the surfer and basketball star who plays the lovable hero, and Justyn, the strangely appealing Goth who is more than realistic in the role of the tortured artist. Almost immediately after casting, strange things start to happen both on and off the stage. Curtains fall. Mirrors are shattered. People are hurt in true phantom style. They all seem like accidents until Rebecca receives notes and phone calls that hint at something more sinister. Is Justyn bringing to life the twisted character of the phantom? Or in real life are the roles of the hero and the villain reversed? Rebecca doesn't know who to trust, but she knows she's running out of time as she gets closer and closer to opening night. Only when the mask is stripped away, will the twenty-first century phantom finally be revealed.

Chat with Phantom Narrator Micaela

With Phantom, Book 1 of the Dark Musicals Series, officially released on audio, I thought it was the perfect time to sit down with our narrator, Micaela, for a fun chat about the series, her theatre background, and what it was like bringing these characters to life.

Before the audiobook came out, we hopped on a video call to talk about everything from musical theatre to the challenges of narrating a story filled with dramatic scenes, emotional moments, and songs. I was so excited when I found Micaela. She has a gorgeous voice and was able to sing the musical scenes, which adds a whole new dimension to the audiobook experience. Hearing those moments performed instead of simply read is truly magical.

Sit down with us and enjoy this behind‑the‑scenes chat. Phantom is only Book 1 of 16 in the Dark Musicals world, and I’m excited to continue working with Micaela for many years, and many books, to come.

Watch the video below, and if you want to explore more, check out Phantom on audio or dive into the full Dark Musicals Series. Grab a copy on Amazon or Audible

Dark Musicals Fan Art Spotlight

Every once in a while, a reader connects with a book series in a way that becomes part of its history. For the Dark Musicals Series, that reader is Stephanie Piro, one of the cartoonists behind Six Chicks and the creator of the book review blog The Militant Recommender. Stephanie is a lifelong Phantom of the Opera fan, and years ago she stumbled across Phantom, Book 1 of my series. She’s followed the books ever since, and for each installment she’s drawn a sketch of one of her favorite scenes.

I loved her artwork so much that I ended up writing her into the Dark Musicals world. The fictional Stephanie Piro appears in Haunted, where she plays a soap opera star who joins the cast of the Woman in White movie.

With the release of Phantom on audio, it felt like the perfect time to revisit Stephanie’s beautiful illustrations. Check out the slideshow below to see her interpretations of some of the most iconic moments in the series.

Be sure to visit Stephanie on her blog, The Militant Recommender, and explore more of her stunning artwork on the Six Chicks Facebook page.

Phantom is Now Available on Audio!

Phantom, Dark Musicals Book 1, is now available on audio! Micaela Edman Harper delivers a performance that breathes new life into the characters more than a decade later. Revisit the series and see where the music and mystery began!

Rebecca has always been enchanted by the musical Phantom, but she never expected her life to turn into a chilling reflection of the story.

When her high school drama club chooses Phantom as their annual production, she lands the coveted lead, but stepping into Christine’s shoes comes with more than just stage lights and romance. She finds herself torn between two co-stars—Tom, the golden-boy athlete playing the dashing hero, and Justyn, the enigmatic Goth who is almost too convincing as the tortured Phantom.

As rehearsals begin, the drama doesn't stay onstage. Curtains fall, mirrors shatter, and chilling messages echo lines from the script. Is Justyn slipping too far into character, or is the real villain hiding behind another mask? With opening night fast approaching, Rebecca must uncover the truth before the final act turns deadly.

The stage is set. The Phantom is real. And he’s closer than she ever imagined.

When Real Life Meets the Dark Musicals — Featuring Doctor Hong

Every now and then, real life hands me a moment that feels like it stepped straight out of one of my own books. Today at the Auxiliary Foundation Bingo event, I had the joy of watching Doctor Hong, a real doctor, take the stage and belt out Broadway tunes with bingo‑themed lyrics.

Doctor Hong delivered his own clever, comedic rewrites of classic Broadway numbers, and the entire room was on their feet. After the show, I introduced myself and told him: “My Dark Musicals fans would LOVE you.” We ended up chatting about my series, and I mentioned one of my favorite characters, Dr. Zane Riverdale, the openly gay doctor who marries a drag queen and becomes one of the emotional anchors of the series.

Here's little slice of real‑world musical magic that feels right at home in the Dark Musicals universe. Please check out Dr. Hong's YouTube video below and show him some love! He deserves every view. And who knows, maybe someday Doctor Hong will make a cameo in the books. The Dark Musicals always has room for one more star.

If you haven't already, check out the Dark Musicals Series on Amazon!

🎭 Meet Micaela Harper — The New Voice of the Dark Musicals Series

Meet Micaela Harper, the brand‑new narrator for my Dark Musicals series. Right now, she’s deep into Phantom (Book 1), and she’s not just narrating it. She’s transforming it.

Micaela has officially signed on to narrate all 16 books in the series, and after hearing Chapter 1, I knew I’d found the perfect creative partner for this musical‑mystery universe.

🎶 She Brought the Music

One of my biggest fears about adapting the Dark Musicals to audio was losing the musical element that defines the series. I write original “lyrics” into the books that echo the spirit of the songs that inspired them, but of course we can’t use copyrighted music in the audio. Micaela solved that problem

She took my original lyrics and composed her own unique music, creating a sound that captures the heart of the series without violating any copyrights. It’s fresh, emotional, atmospheric, and perfect for the Dark Musicals. Her performance captures the drama, the romance, the tension, and the theatricality. As a real musical theater performer, she understands the tone of the series.

🎬 A Journey Begins

This collaboration is going to be an incredible ride, and I can’t wait for you to hear what she’s creating. If you want a taste of her talent, check out her YouTube video below where she sings If Somebody Love Me from Toy Story.

Book 1 should be ready by mid‑June, and trust me, it’s worth the wait.

Stay tuned! The Dark Musicals are about to sing louder than ever. Check out the whole series on Amazon.

Meet the Crossover Stars of Tickled to Death – And Snag Their Backstories for FREE!

My regular readers know I’m a total sucker for crossovers—like, tie-me-up-and-call-me-helpless levels of obsession. But if Tickled to Death is your first taste of Laura DeLuca’s world, you might not realize that (with a few exceptions) most of my books are cannon, especially the ones set in my home state of New Jersey—because let’s be real, if any place screams “spicy drama and questionable life choices,” it’s Jersey.

And yes, that includes The Domme Mom series. That’s right, darlings—characters from Dark Musicals and Jersey Girls have strutted right on over. To celebrate the release of Tickled to Death, I’m giving away a few of these books for FREE, so you can get properly acquainted with their backstories before diving headfirst into my newest release.

By day, Leonard Foley Esquire is a top attorney in Cape May and Atlantic Counties, defending the legally doomed with the confidence of a man who’s never lost an argument (or at least, never admitted to it). By night, he trades the courtroom for the spotlight, moonlighting as an actor at a local dinner theater—because apparently, delivering closing arguments just isn’t dramatic enough. Lenny makes his grand debut in Reanimated, where he plays Victor in Ghost Bride—a role that, thankfully, requires fewer objections and more ominous monologues.

Vashaan Jacobs, AKA Black Silk, first made waves  in Brushed by Fate. This retired Marine traded battlefield tactics for physical therapy, working alongside wounded warriors—including our hero, Scott Heron—at the local hospital. Turns out, patching people up is just as intense as taking them down.

And if that wasn’t enough crossover goodness, Rhonda’s neighbors, Lainey and Drew DiPalma, also pop up in the Jersey Girls series—because what’s a tight-knit Jersey community without some familiar faces (and a little well-placed drama)?

Both these titles will be free for a limited time, so grab them while you can! And if you’re new to the Dark Musicals or Jersey Girls series, I highly recommend reading them all—preferably in order, unless you enjoy spoilers and chaos. Happy reading, and remember—safe words are important, but binge-reading is highly encouraged.
