The Aftermath starring Keira Knightley, Jason Clarke & Alexander Skarsgard

Set in 1946, this engrossing drama follows Rachael Morgan (Keira Knightley), a British woman whose colonel husband (Jason Clarke) is charged with rebuilding war-ravaged Hamburg. When she joins him there during the bitter winter months, she learns they willbe sharing their home with a German widower (Alexander SkarsgÄrd) and his troubled daughter. Before long, the unusual arrangement intensifies political divides and stirs deep personal wounds. In this increasingly charged environment, enmity and grief giveway to unexpected passion and betrayal.

My Thoughts

This is a really great film centering around a woman named Rachel who is helping with recover effort shortly after World War II.  Her husband is a colonel and she meets up with him to help rebuild. With limited space, they wind up sharing a home with a German man and his daughter who is damaged from the rigors of war. Rachel soon finds herself drawn to both men.

This is a great movie that brings up a forbidden love story, but also delves in the psychological affects many people suffered at the end of the war. Emotions run high throughout the film. It's a historically accurate film with stunning costumes and backdrops as well as a phenomenal  cast. This is the type of film which is sure to be a classic people will watch over and over again.
